The frontrunners for Peavy are now the Cubs according the Ken Rosenthal. To make this happen the Cubs will probably have to Part with Kerry Wood and get a cheaper option in right field. The dream rotation for the Cubs is this: Peavy, Zambrano, Dempster, Lilly, Harden.

    Peavy - overrated
    Zambrano - inconsistant
    Dempster - decent
    Lilly - solid
    Harden - solid

Peavy has a career ERA of 3.25.
Zambrano has won over 13 games for the past 6 years.
Dempster had a career year. (Zambrano is much better)
Lilly is a solid 4 guy.
Harden would be an ace or minimum #2 on many other teams.

I'd almost make that trade. Woods is a whisper away from being Mark Prior part deux and even when healthy has a ginormous ERA for a closer. Slide Dempster back to the closer or better yet With their pocketbook make the trade, go get K-Rod and fuck the Mets

Last I heard, Braves are in the running too......and not that far from getting a deal done at that. Sounded like if the Cubs were going to have a shot, there would have to be a third team involved to give the Pads the pitching they're looking to get in return.

Maybe that's changed in the last several hours though, IDK.
