How about this little theory? Most Americans are cleaner than in past decades. I mean people shower/bath more but also kids play outside less. Could it be the body's immune system doesn't have much to do so it starts going after little stuff like peanuts?

If my dog's noses touches charles he swells up like the elephant man.

When Charles ate the speck of peanut butter he broke out in full body hives and had projectile vomit.

If i touch him with mayonaise - hives.

Asked my Mom about this today. She couldn't recall ANY kids with allergies to either when I was growing up. Strange...I blame the Muslims.

Yes, Chick Fila uses peanut oil, we spent afternoon in er after chick fila sandwich!!! We have learned to ask everywhere we go what they cook in. Schools are the worst for peanut butter sandwiches and teachers or parents bringing in snacks with nuts.

When you ask at restaurants, do they always know what they cook with? Some of those people, I'm not so sure about.

You'd figure schools would be the most careful about this stuff. Hopefully, by the time my daughter gets school age, schools will be more vigilent.

Most restaurants do know, if they don't, I ask them to go find out and if that is still an issue ( sometimes language barriere at some restaurants) I leave. I taught my daughter that if she didn't recognize candy or food offered to her to not eat it, she is very shy so in her early years in school, several teachers asked why she never at snack from school or goodies bought in by parents, I explained her fear of eating something with peanuts. I found that even filling out medical forms at school was not enough to scare the staff, I make a point to inform every teacher or adult she comes in contact with that she can't have nuts or anything with nuts. She also has a severe allergy to mold and we have battled with schools that put out mulch on playgrounds and around school every year. Her first encounter with the mulch was at age 3 helping my parents unload mulch out of back of truck, horrible immediate reaction which resulted in an 11 day stay in Pediatric ICU with a collapsed lung. Allergies are no fun!! Then add on severe Asthma!!! She has battled pretty good and with the help of an awesome allergy/asthma doctor, she is a very active athlete playing varsity basketball and softball and on a traveling showcase softball team during the summer.

Am I the only one wondering why you would be touching your kid with mayonaise?
