Parcells to Detroit per Clayton

Discussion in 'Carolina Panthers' started by Tiorted Snoil, Dec 27, 2002.

  1. he said it the other night on TV...it is not on his web page. he's basically using the cowboys to get the lions to know he is interested. Rumor out of NY has it that he met with Lions brass a couple of weeks ago there.

IMO, he's looking for a paycheck before he retires for good....he lives expensively.

  2. I don't think Parcells and Jerry Jones would mesh--making the Lions a better fit.

As long as he ain't in our division. I think Bill would be a better fit in Dallas anyway. JMO

Jones wants to win now and he'll sign whomever to do so. I can't see Parcels taking a young team and continue to try and build through the draft. Plus Dallas is a higher profile job.

I think Jones is just jealous of Snyder and wants a coach worthy of more money than Spurrier is making.

Do you think Parcells would give the opposing team the ball first in OT ?

Somebody has done that before though, but they had the defense to back it up, it may have been Parcells and I think it was in a play-off game. Or am I thinking Ditka or Cowler?

I would think Detroit would be more attractive to Parcells in that he's got 2 young QB's to work with. Dallas is aging FAST, Detroit has a bigger upside...and no Jerry Jones sticking his nose where it don't belong.

either team is stupid to sign him.... just ask the jets. he'll coach for a year, two at the most. who wants a coach that you know isn't in it for the long haul?

Agree that he won't stay terribly long.

Detroit is an interesting place to go for Parcells. A situation not unlike the Jets, a spot with a hands off owner looking to spend and win. I guess Denny Green's in Dallas then, he or Norv if Norv's looking. But Norv possibly being on a playoff run hurts him. Denny's out there right now.

  9. they did a story in one of the detroit papers about coaches who have done that...parcells was on the list along with Knoll, Landry, Reeves, Shannahan, Walsh...there were several more and they were all "successful" coaches....and coaches that had a pair.

If his D hadn't been on the field for basically the whole 4th qtr, i would have agreed with it. No one remember the 4th and forever they converted...along with a couple of 3rds and forevers.
