I'm glad the IQ of this fanbase remains at a room temperature level no matter who the coach, GM, or owner is. Traditions are important.

Speaking of college coaches that inbred Carolina Huddle members once loved, I'd like to hear Matt Rhule's bullshit justification for keeping Terrace Marshall and Bradley Bozeman hidden on the sidelines for over a month. Both of those guys have instantly made the offense watchable, and all I ever said about PJ is that he has an NFL arm. He's not someone I want in the discussion long term, but there's no question that he can have a Fitzpatrickian career as a backup. And you might at well stick with him because the team is finally capable of scoring more than 17 points.


The defense plays hard, but behind the handful of awesome starters (Derrick Brown is making Hall of Fame caliber plays this year) there are still way too many of Rhule's shitty pet projects taking up snaps. The lack of depth partially explains why the defense seems to run out of gas when it matters the most. The structure is there, but the foundation needs to be stronger.


Every special teamer not named Johnny Hekker or JJ Jansen can uber home. Fuck all of them. It's time to start churning the bottom of the roster, for depth and for special teams. If I see another needless block in the back, I'm going to have a fucking stroke.

 

I’m in Canada and saw only the Fox Bonus Coverage of the end of the game. That in itself is irrelevant, other than missing yet another mediocre kicker miss kicks throughout the afternoon. I certainly don’t advocate trading Moore. So I’m not sure how calling out a sophomoric, unintelligent act is piling on? Rules are rules. And id hadn’t also leapt on the wall, and instead gone to the sideline, the refs may indeed have overlooked it. But a team in the position of Carolina cannot afford ridiculous mistakes, especially when it cost them like this.

I guess my temperature isn’t regulated by stretching wives and dark pumping. The play was fantastic. The aftermath was not.

 

My reaction to catching a game tying hail Mary is to go insane, which is why refs should be more judicious about those calls. It made the PAT harder, sure, but a 48 yard kick indoors in the modern NFL shouldn't be a problem. And then he flat shanked the overtime kick, which was shorter than a PAT.


But like I said, Woods getting away with tackling Damiere Byrd on Mariota's hail Mary probably cancels it all out. Bottom line is that you have to make one of those fucking kicks.

 

As a sidebar, I hate the long extra point. I always have. We've been hard-wired to think of a TD as seven points, unless something absolutely crazy happens like a botched snap or Kris Jenkins walking back the center. Now you're just leaving games up to whichever kicker isn't having the yips. I hate that shit. Go back to the 19 yarder or just get rid of the PAT.

 

Yeah I’m deaf so I saw DJ jump up on the wall yelling “Fuck You” to the Atlanta fans. I’m sure that had a lot to do with the ref throwing the flag.

It feels like the team is going to be competitive enough under Wilks to avoid a top 5 pick, so getting put in a two game hole for the playoffs is tough. It just leaves you in football limbo. But I appreciate the character of the team, and there's value in setting the culture. There have been a few massive examples of additional by subtraction, and hopefully we keep that going. Get all of the rot out and start fresh.
