Brown is out, Shy Tuttle is the worst nose tackle in the NFL, and the Panthers are starting a combination nobodies opposite Clowney. Greg Roman is just going to hammer the run all day. People like shitting on the Chargers WR corps, but they block like sons of bitches. McConkey and Josh Palmer in particular. The offensive line is build to move people. Interior pass blocking is suspect, but the tackles are dominant. Joe Alt erased Maxx Crosby last week.

The defense runs four deep at OLB. They rotate ILBs - two nickel specialists and a veteran run stopper. The slot corner spot is a weakness, but they can slide Derwin James down there as needed. And they do that thing where they crowd line and make you guess who's blitzing and who's dropping - which the Panthers have been awful at having any answers for ever since Bryce Young became the starting QB.

They have a 300 lb fullback/DT two way player, because of course they do.

And, oh yeah, they have a QB who can see over the linemen in front of him, and can throw the ball anywhere on the field. You want a ball thrown over Jordan Fuller's sorry ass? Okay, this guy can throw it out of the fucking stadium. And he's accurate, so if you put your safeties 30 yards deep, he'll just complete 80 percent of his throws for 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions - because he also doesn't turn the ball over.

    And
he can run. I'm sure LA is slow playing this part because of his preseason foot injury, but he's a legitimate threat to pull the ball and run for 25 yards.

The Chargers are building their team exactly how I would want the Panthers to. Exactly. It's uncanny. Sunday will be like watching the Panthers team I'd want facing the Panthers team I'm stuck with.

How much of a leash is Bryce going to be given this season? Is not sucking as bad going to be enough?

They'll pull him by week 8 if the arrow doesn't start pointing up. Canales isn't tied to Young. Neither is Morgan, really.

Good luck. At least you'll have plenty of leg room.

The defense needs multiple surprise performances to keep LA's run game in check. Guys like Peevy or Thurman need to have their career game, and DJ Johnson has to stop sucking ass. Clowney is going to have to play close to 100% of snaps, because there's no one else who can set the edge.

I do have the Chargers defense in fantasy this week.

Last thing I'll mention before the game:

David Tepper turned down Jim Harbaugh twice, so I'm 100% sure that Jim Harbaugh wants to torment David Tepper's soul today. There's no way the Chargers aren't fully prepared to whip Carolina's ass. An upset would have to involve crazy bounces and multiple Panthers scrubs having breakout games.

As long as Tepper is at the helm, I will not pick this team to win.
