Yeah, unfortunately it's not an "escape hatch" deal like Mike Glennon in Chicago. It's still worth it. The next GM hurney is just going to have to draft exceptionally well over the next few years including UDFA's who can contribute.

 

Once ron shedded the riverboat persona and turned into a cross between fox and capers (the worst parts) and still hasn't got his stuttering and "he really is" at the end of every sentence for just in case he didn't make the case when talking about a player, under control, I've jumped off his bandwagon. He's going the same rout in carolina that fox did after 2003- and he has more talent to work with even. Which is unfortunate.

I don't expect him and hurney to do much better than they did as a team before.

As a fan though, I'm happy to be pleasantly surprised.

It's taken me a while to articulate exactly why I feel so shitty about the direction we're going, but I think that's exactly what it is. Everyone from our players to our coaches to our fans has lost the fortitude to win a 13-10 type game. This is what hit me like a ton of bricks after the Buffalo game. It takes effort and mental toughness to scrap out 10+ wins in the NFL, because most of them are wars of attrition. This franchise has lost that edge. When you run into a team like Chicago that embraces these sort of games, they're going to beat you. I think everyone is still spoiled rotten from 2015, and it's time to move on and stop trying to measure up to that season.
