everything is falling into place. i hope that panthers don't nut up and draft a running back. there will be (greg jones) much better offerings (greg jones) next year (greg jones).

  2. Aren't Smith and Huntley basically the same back? Decent inside runners with not enough speed to get outside? Although Smith has at least had a couple 1000 yard seasons.

i think of smith as being an up-the-gut guy and huntley has, in my opinion, always been a cut-back runner.

regardless, neither one should be the starting back in 2003. we should be takingthe longview with this team. forget about 2001. forget about 2002. 2003 is when the real wins will come. this two-year period is all about getting the right folks in place, the wrong folks off the team and acquiring young, fast, talented players.

    at least it'd better be.

Lamar is the only starting caliber RB on the roster. Huntley might be good enough to start - but he hasn't yet for any length of time. IMO, Smith is a short term solution but a solution none-the-less. I like this signing myself. About a mill a season is cheap IMO.

Hell, the more the merrier. I'm much more concerned about our holes on D than absences on O. It does make me feel good that we're being more active in hte market.

I wouldn't be so sure that Smith WILL be the starter. Huntley ran well when given the touches. Smith may have been brought in to be the #2 or more of a split time situation.
Where I am interested at this point is the #3. Between Montgomery, Brown and Goings, I am hoping that Brown emerges. Montgomery has had too many injury problems and Goings, while a great example of desire, isn't all that talented.

I would like to see a second day pick in Verron Haynes, maybe in the fifth. I think this guy is the next Georgia Bulldog Suprise!

We need to keep Dee brown on the roster just because of the whole blindfolded 360 dunking thing.

Dee Brown used to play in the NBA and won the Dunk Contest. His eligiblitly ran out and now he is playing in the NFL.
