Panther fans are weak.....but every preseason game around the league has early abandoners. Philly was dead the entire game.

Thomas Davis? We were commenting in chat about how invisible he was. Nearly every time a replay would come up, he was being driven downfield by an offensive lineman.

Actually, you see it all the time in every NFL town. I saw it when the Pats hosted Tennessee last week. I'm not going to apoligize for all of our fans because a lot of them suck, but you can't pretend that Charlotte is the only town that leaves in the 3rd quarter of a preseason game.

I was actually suprised that people stayed as long as they did.

Unsurprisingly, you're wrong. Check out any of the other preseason games and you'll see that most start the game half empty, so I was actually pretty impressed with the crowd last night.

predictably, i thought i might get stupid ass remarks like this. having said that, tell me why in the 1992/93 playoffs Stiller fans started hitting the exits before the end of of the third quarter against Buffalo. Afterall, the Bills had completed the greatest comeback in NFL history the week before. Couldn't it happen again? I guess not...the steelers were getting their asses handed to them and eventually lost 24-3. You know why i remember this so well? I was there. trust me SY, i have attended more games in pittsburgh than a lot of people who lived there their whole lives.

as for you 49er...get over your patriot loving self. it is easy for you to stick your chest out and talk about other team's fans when the team has won three super bowls this decade. but maybe you can tell me why the commisioner begged Mr Kraft to buy the patriots. because they were the joke of the NFL and about to move and he felt (correctly) that Kraft could turn things around. let me point out an intersting statistic for you:

Patriots average paid attendance in 1990 - less than 40,000
Panthers average paid attendance in 2001 - more than 70,000

wanna know the similarity? both teams went 1-15 that season.

I'd like to think so, but McClover played a lot, and they know what they have with him. Johnson didn't look that bad as a 2nd stringer, I could see him not outplaying Ball right now but in no form can we afford to give up on him.

definitely doing that. Return teams had different guys each time. I noticed KR is going back to the 5-4-2 format instead of 6 up front, and they mixed the inner level a lot. DL in the middle, TEs on the outside, OL in the middle, DL on the outside. I noticed Mathis and Bridges inside twice and they did an OK job of setting up the wedge but were always too far ahead of the returner.

I don't think he would've been anyway, but nice to see him make some moves to earn it. Did he or Carter start?

    He looks comfortable doing it.

I didn't see him being driven back more than anyone else, but I was watching from the endzone. I saw him being active against the run, but I was also impressed at how Beason was flying around.

And while I hate the whole fan argument, I've seen Steeler fans pouring out at BOA whether they're winning or losing. And basically it is OUTSTANDINGLY idiotic to compare storied and titled teams to what amounts to a franchise in it's infancy. You're comparing apples to oranges. And who gives a shit anyway? :punk:

It's all good. 49er and SY are just looking for a reaction.

I'm not sure how much he played in the second half, but only three of Davis' six tackles came against the run (after gains of 2, 4, and 7 yards). To my eyes, he was getting abused.

We were pretty impressed with Beasons activity on the field as well, the guy has no fear, and is full speed all the time. The one thing he needs to learn is to wrap up, he was continuously popping people only to have them bounce off and keep going. Gotta love his aggressiveness and energy out there though.
