Damn, Shelton finally gets in the game with 4 minutes left. Guess he's out of here.

THE GOOD, THE BAD, & THE BUTT UGLY

GOOD - I don’t know that it’s all that good however . . . if our guys are going to get abused and embarrassed it may as well be by the best team on the planet. If there is a better team in the NFL no one else would want to play them. Delhomme threw a few good balls and he got pretty good protection most of the time. Baker is a BEAST .. . if punters can be those (and if you are allowed to brag on your damn punter)
    Also - Nobody got hurt.

BAD - Our guys got abused and embarrassed for the second time in a week, and on national TV. As a fan it sucks a lot for the world to see your team get butt fucked and all those non-panther fans in our life are going to give you some shit for a while. When it counted the most (like that damn 4th down play) our D-line got manhandled. Our O-line got blown up too. When you suffer back to back blocked FG attempts your special teams suck ass at their very core. You could just go on and on and on about the bad but I’d rather not so I won’t

UGLY - Even in preseason games our starters and special teams should not be looking this horrible. I am losing any confidence that was left in our coaching staff, Fox included. I know that its only pre season and we have a new OC and blah blah blah, however every other team that I have seen play this preseason (with the exception of the Giants that first game) has looked significantly sharper. We have just looked like pure dog shit from top to bottom . . . Especially on D and STs.

Maybe our players are saving the hustle, heart, and heady play for the regular season.
With very few exceptions there is not much at all to get excited about here.

That was the first ever Panthers preseason game televised live in the UK, and to be honest their performanced sucked. Two weeks in a row they underperformed and I'm very concerned about the coming season.

I'll be on vacation in the States in September, taking in the Houston game in Charlotte and Atlanta on the road the following week. If you happen to see an odd looking short guy with dreads then say hello. Buy me a beer, even!

I would add Jake Delhomme's accuracy, and poise under pressure. Really only saw maybe 2 inaccurate passes all night, not inclusive of the jail break where he got clocked trying to get the ball to Smitty.

First team pass protection was good the majority of the time. I think this may be because NE went kind of vanilla with the blitzes.

Obviously, special teams were horrid. I thought Crossman was a guru, but if he didn't lose that status last year, he will definately lose it this year. We did nothing well really.

Run game was disappointing, but I do think we have 2 guys in DF and DW who are fucking decent. Just no good push up front, but I do have to say this is NE, who will end up top 3 in run defense all year, so hard to take that personal.

Got ate up in the passing game, I really don't see that changing, considering who we have back there. What DID surprise me, I don't think Peppers name was called once, and the D line brought no heat at all. I don't know if NE is that good, or we have slipped that badly.

I can't recall us ever looking this bad in the preseason.
