Kemo Bowl? He came from the Ravens. What's the link to the Steelers?

Collin, you once referenced Scott Fowler's prediction of the Bobcats success in year 2 while arguing that the team underperformed.

    SCOTT FOWLER.

You've got no room to criticize magnus :)

I don't expect you to accept that Davis has been driven down the field until you watch the Patriots game, but I do expect you to at least realize that you took too extreme a position when you said that Davis has been active this preseason. You should have seen enough and recognized enough from the stats to realize that he has not been active by any stretch of the imagination.
Repeating someone else's comments does not make someone astute, magnus, so having "access" is irrelevant unless you plan to give him credit for things he had no clue about but heard someone else say. If so, you might as well credit Thelt when he repeats ideas that I've voiced as if he came up with them himself. I've still seen nothing to suggest that Gantt is more knowledgeable or insightful than the average poster in this Panthers forum.
I disagree with you on that, as I seem to recall that not being uncommon, especially when Fields was starting.
I don't need to download the torrent and upload screencaps to prove that Davis has not been active. The tackles totals show that convincingly. If I wanted you to admit that he's been driven down the field on multiple occasions, sure, I'd need to provide you with specific plays and perhaps some visual evidence. But in terms of evaluating Davis' on-field impact this preseason, the lack of tackles is certainly compelling.
Fewer after battling cancer, sure. In '02, however, he had 103 tackles in 15 games in addition to 7.5 sacks. Davis was better than Short in terms of tackles, but we didn't think Short was that good, so I'm not sure what that proves. I'm not saying that Davis is a bum, just that he's not having much of an impact at SLB. That and his total invisibility this preseason is something of a concern.

I made an observation after the game. See, this is where things get dumb at the point where discussion ends and you want to get all "message board combat." I stated an opinion based on what I saw. You can disagree with it, but above that, get over it.

not at all. Nonetheless, it's a vantage point that you ahve to admit allows for plenty of room to form an educated opinion. Nonetheless, yay useless side arguments! A couple comments in chat aren't a consensus.

it's not something I've seen often - I saw Fields coming from a flipped formation where he lined up right, but no, I don't remember him lining up outside Peppers in base D a handful of times in two years of him starting there, or Favors/Short, or Davis last year. I can say with really, really positive certainty that we've not put a linebacker outside Peppers 95% of the time in base defense. And remember, I was the only one talking about Davis being outside Peppers so often this year, when I broke down the initial two games.

nope, but the difference is I did detail some series where the first D did work, and when things came up that you disagreed with, I showed you definitively that I was disagreeing and why. It's not 100% necessary, no. But I was hoping that this would be a situation where you'd exchange ideas instead of just being irritated I said something you disagreed with.

along that lines, yes, sure, I'd want to see it. I can watch the tape and check it out, and make my own conclusions on the sideline angle, but sure it'd have been helpful with some examples. Just some plays where you remembered him getting blocked out of the play or driven back where he was, in fact, eagled and not playing outside and contain.

oh, and good lord on the "admit".

the quick stats I looked up differed. So fair enough. Yeah, Fields' 02 was impressive.

and that anything I say about Davis is invalid and that my vague descriptions of my point of view of Davis' play are completely wrong somehow.
part of it is that, again, they're not expecting him to be what we expected Short to be. He should be more, and I agree, I'm expecting to see more playmaking out of him. But I didn't see him having specific problems getting off blocks or getting into pursuit, and the only time he looked suboptimal was playing contain, and that just because he's not 280.

I know, I was just pointing out that you were wrong.
Again, of the people who have made comments on the subject (~10 or so), all of them except you have expressed some degree of concern that Davis is not showing up much this preseason. Or are you suggesting that I hacked hasbeens' account?
I think you're imagining things with "really, really positive certainty."
I'm not irritated that you said he was active. Anyone can make a mistake, especially when they're watching at the game itself. It's your defensiveness over being corrected that has blown this up into an argument. Remember, you accused me of being the only one to think this about Davis, which was wrong. You also accused me of not providing any evidence for my opinion, which was also wrong. Without you getting defensive about being wrong, I don't think we're still arguing this.
Not anything, no, but it's pretty clear that he has not been "active." When you're the only one who thinks so, and the statistics pretty conclusively show that you're wrong, I think that should be enough for you to check your conclusions. Are you willing to do that or should we just keep arguing about it?
