I lost all interest in this thread about mid-page 1 when people started pissing for competition.

I'll say this...Branch can't tackle for shit and can't cover for shit. The D spent the year trying to mask his weaknesses and that took away from other players strengths. The fact that he can't tackle doesn't make him a SS, either.
At best, he's a mis-placed STer and I expect him to be back in that role w/in 6 months.

Minter will return to form as long as he doesn't have to be schemed to cover for everyone else. The Rookie, the Soph, the misplaced special teamer and Minter...you do the math.

Did you read any of my other post? The statment was suppose to be made in jest of everything. I mean Damn, I stole that white on rice line from Major Payne. I should have stayed true to the argument, I guess and never try to lighten things up a bit. I apologize. I said in a later post that he is not "white on rice", but is solid.

Name one person in here that hasnt exaggerated about how bad he is to prove their argument. I am not even talking about Mags. I am talking about people saying he is slow, has no closing speed, and made up any other ignorant statement to prove their point. If you read any of my other post you know I have never over hyped him, I called him solid. Although on here that could be considered over hyping Branch.

Agreed. He had trouble in college to with one on one cover responsibility. Mainly biting too much on play fakes, etc.

To be honest, I would call saying Branch is solid over-hypeing him.

Brent Alexander was solid, Grant was solid, Branch is just shy of that.

Sigh. Did we have to bring in Brent Alexander? Well, at least you dont think he is slow anymore. One step at a time.

I take that back, Alexander wasn't so solid as a Panther...but he developed and had some things Branch lacks in coverage. I guess there is hope for Branch, but there needs to be a contingency plan.

Alexander was slow, but somewhat instintive. Branch isn't really slow, his lack of instinct makes him appear that way.

I'm still not sure how you can debate Branch being the weakest link now that Greg Favors is gone...

    Peppers
    Jenkins
    Moorehead
    Buckner
    Rucker
    Wallace
    Witherspoon
    Morgan
    Fields
    Short
    Manning
    Gamble
    Hawkins
    Minter

Ok, Branch is probably above Ciurcui and Wesley, but they can tackle at least, and aren't starting unless someone gets hurt.

With all the talent we have on D it does not seem like we would be dependent on having a great free safety to tackle Ladanian Tomlinson and Sean Alexander. You would think our "hall of fame" DL and linebackers could get that done.
