Panthers/Eagles game thread

Every back other than Goings averaged over 4 a carry, they just weren't trying. The entire team including the QBs only attempted 19 runs

Foster only carried 3 times for 18
Williams 3 for 13
Haynes 5 for 23
Shelton 1 for 6
Goings 3 for 3
Hoover 1 for 5

 

Kalil looked horribble. The Eagles, being the opportunistic pricks they are (even in preseason) made him look like a rookie. I guess Kalil was thinking that he was going to see the vanilla crap that we use in practice and instead saw the brunt of the Eagle's defense in regular season form. A few times I saw him in space just looking around not manning up a body. I think it is a bad idea to FORCE him into the lineup when he's obviously not ready just because he is a second round pick. If he isn't ready...sit him, I don't care where he was drafted.

Secondly, why in the hell are the coaches swapping TWO positions to fill the need for only one? Bridges is gone for a couple of games and I understand that the team is planning for the absence. Why not leave Hartwig at center and JUST sub at RG until Bridges returns? Justin didn't seem as comfortable at RG as he normally is at center, either.

Lastly, those of you that busts Jake's balls are going to do so regardless of his performance, good or bad. It is funny, though, that he has good to stellar games when the O-line holds up, but sucks when the line falls apart. I wonder what the correlation is there?

O-line good = Jake good

O-line bad = Jake bad

Yup, Jake just sucks.

 

When you say things like that, it's clear that you are the one who is biased. When we got pressure on McNabb, he did not panic and throw the ball randomly into the air off of his back foot. In the NFL, QBs have to deal with pressure, and Jake just happens to be spectacularly bad at it.

I've been one who doesn't place blame totally on Jake, but he definitely sucked a big one last night. It's troubling.

 

I'm not biased, I think Jakedoesn't handle pressure well. However, he was under duress the enitre half. Our defense only got good pressure on McNabb on occasion. It's not the same. I would like to see how McNabb handled the pressure that Delhomme got. Would he have done any better, who knows? My bet is they would have fared about the same. I not trying to get into a pissing match, but the protection that Delhomme and McNabb got is comparing apples to oranges. My whole point is people tend to dump on Delhomme when he is only one spoke in the broken wheel. Bias is when one element is singled out when the issue is collective.

-The O-line from OC over to RT played like crap

-Williams is too small to block

-Carter should be demoted, couldn't catch a cold...screw his speed

-Gaines has questionable hands too

haven't seen a lot of it, but sure, Hartwig might not be ready at RG, Kalil might not be ready at C, but it's a growing pain. I can understand that. If the team feels this is our best chance to win, then the growing pain has to come. Bridges wasn't that good, and didn't stand out in the 2nd line either.

This is also a lot better DL than we saw v/s NYG, so this is skewed a bit for lineup and that one a bit skewed because they suck.


I know the young kid, Thomas, is a riser. 6 sacks last year and stealing time from Kearse and Howard. Had Gross' lunch and I'll see on tape why.

No, he wasn't. A couple of times the blocking completely broke down, but otherwise the sacks were a matter of the Eagles blitzing and Jake not getting rid of the ball in the several seconds he had to make a decision. You can't blame all of it on the offensive line, that's just the NFL.

And that's why your opinion is a complete joke. It is beyond obvious that Jake is much worse at handling pressure than most other starting quarterbacks in the National Football League. He is nowhere near McNabb's level in that respect. Jake panics and throws passes up for grabs off his back foot, which is unacceptable.

There isn't a single person who said anything remotely like Jake being the only problem against the Eagles. No one. You know it, that's just you spouting some nonsense to defend your beloved quarterback. The fact is that Jake sucked regardless of the offensive line.

 

Possibly, our mind is made up on RBs, not WRs?
