I’m down with drafting a nickel next year in the third or fourth or so. It’s just a falling need, both in FA and the draft, when I see that starters will be needed for WR, DT, and perhaps RT.

WR i think is number 1 priority. I then go DT, CB, LB, RT, RG.

I'm still interested in seeing what Wesley can do. I watched him in Spartanburg and thought he looked like he could mature and be a starting caliber corner and a good one at that. Also, keep in mind that we will get Anderson back next year. If you look at what our staff has done w/ Grant and Howard, you have to wonder what kind of upside that can get out of Anderson. In the big picture, I'm sure we can upgrade, but the need isn't there like originally thought.

CB doesn't seem to be nearly the need it was 3 weeks ago. That's really all I'm saying.

And - for that matter - is receiver really a first round need? I guess it depends on who's available when we pick.

I'd think DT or OL might be a bigger round one need. If a superstar is available, that's different.

We are paper thin at WR, and with Smith doing double duty, it’s important that we take the pressure off. It’s a need.

Just when Moose re-learned to catch the bball....he does the hammy"thing again. I am afrid this willcontinue to be a problem with him. Lets see how Bright does this week. Also we still have Bryd. I think offensive line is a definite need.....ask Peete and the Winksteer.

An Old Coot hoping for the best this year...............and NEXT !!

Don't really need a big physical corner. Physical is good, but big isn't necessarily. The difference between a Starks or Bly (5'9-10) to a McAllister isn't much because of height. Size is good, you can't run a 170 lb corner. In that case, Howard is as good as we would need. He's also tough and physical. I don't think necessarily that we can afford not to challenge Howard...not nickel, challenge.

I don't know about Rashard in specifics. I have to imagine he's got a very long road ahead of him before he's allowed to return and if he is at all, whether or not he'll be a factor.

Depends on what's out there. If we're still talking Andre Johnson with our pick, yes. If you think it's possible to go find a Josh Reed in the second, much less an Antonio Bryant, it's possible to go out and find something else. But of all of the need spots, WR is still both the most value and the most impact. I'm fine with Steve Smith's talent level and performance, but we're always going to be finding ways to get him the ball. I'd like to think that SS will be the long term starter, but the usual way this works is that when you find that guy you need to take the pressure off, that player is more often than not good enough and solid in all phases so that the original speedy return man is used more situationally and in returns and less all-time.

If not WR, then it'd have to be either CB or QB. I can't honestly see OT being a huge need in the first, we're not to the talent level where we can start rounding guys out.

I think its hard to say who we should take when. Take a minute to think about this. What first round receiver out of last years draft has done more than Steve Smith (3rd Round Pick) either last year or this year? If you take Gardner out of the equation, none of them have. Freddie Mitchell has been a bust, Koren Robinson has yet to find his niche. Its all about projections and what the scouts see. I think we'll take the best QB, WR, DT, or OL that is available at the time we pick.

Well, Chambers and Quincy Morgan are lighting it up (second rounders), but the first rounders from 2000 have been less than impressive. David Terrell has yet to break the starting lineup.
