    Here we go.

I pick 7-9. I hope I'm wrong and we do better.

    Here's why:

Every single year that expectations have been high for us, we've gone 7-9.

    1997: 7-9
    2000: 7-9
    2004: 7-9

In addition, we've had 2 other years we went 7-9 (1995, 2002), which means that 50% of the time, we go 7-9.

IMHO, there are too many people cursing us to do well. Too much praise.

We'll still be second in the division, and we'll beat Vick.

Expectations were hightened prior to 2003. I think we did okay that year.

Disagree here. Many people said we would have a let down year, and we did. I don't recall anyone (except lazy-eye Stuart Scott) saying we would make a deep run.

Maybe, maybe not. If we continue to suck on 3rd down, I doubt it will be because of a magazine cover.

I respect your opinion, meat. We can examine it over and over, but there really is no way to know until January. Maybe the Panthers fall on their face, and the Cardinals make it to the Super Bowl. But given the talent level that Carolina has, plus a reasonable road schedule, I think 7-9 is a pretty low mark.

Last year I predicted 8-8. Since I like to be a little too optomistic, I'll say 13-3.

This is the best team the Panthers have ever had. If we don't do it this year, I don't see how we will ever do it. As long as our OL and DL are healthy and Jake is healthy we will win and often.

The Falcons are the ones that are overrated. Everyone is predicting them to either go to the POs or wildcard. In effect the " experts" are saying that teams have learned nothing of how to stop Vick's running and the tougher schedule means nothing to the outcome of the season. Vick will be stopped, often. Vicks two winning seasons came after the Falcons had terrible seasons allowing him to play very favorable schedules.

If anyone wants to know what "meaningless statistics" look like, this is a pretty good example. :mr-t:

Based on what numbers I project for our offense and defense, I don't see a reason to change my prediction of 10-6. Looking at our schedule, I think we'll get off to a hot start before cooling off towards the end. And I picked the Panthers to win the Super Bowl in our magazine before SI did, so I'm to take credit (or blame) for that one.

Put me down for 1st to say 10-6. (I'd lean more to 9-7 than 11-5)

And anyway, we can't go 7-9 this year, 'cause we went 7-9 last year, and we have NEVER, in all our history, had back-to-back 7-9 seasons. :woot:

    11-5, I say.

I think 12 wins is the ceiling. 11-5 is a good bet, IMO.

I'd love to say that we can be flat-out asskickers, and go 13-3. Combine our talent level with the schedule, it's plausible, but still unlikely. This team has a habit of losing 2 or 3 games that they have no business losing.

11-5. Didn't we have a prediction thread last month?
