    Panthers Over the Salary Cap

I found this today on http://profootballtalk.com

Per a source with knowledge of the cap numbers, here are the seven teams that were in the red: Raiders ($17.3 million), Steelers ($11.5 million), Texans ($8.5 million), Vikings ($5.6 million), Lions ($5 million), Cowboys ($3.7 million), and Panthers ($939,000).

I guess that's why they didn't sign a free agent corner back. They already blew through their whole cap space. I still think we need a CB and WR.

Thanks. I believed the team to be at the cap, but couldn't find any numbers. Cam Newton, Greg Olsen, and Olindo Mare should be enough to go from 2-14 to a playoff berth.

Collin, I admit I was wrong earlier. I thought we had a lot of cap space left, even after all the big contracts. I am still optimistic about the upcoming season, but I see a few holes we downright neglected and also say WTF? Richard Marshal is gone in FA, Gamble is aptly named as a CB and we have Capt. Munerlyn as a starting corner? I just feel like our secondary is going to get torched.

See, this is the type of hypothetical honesty I can get excited about.

Most of the time that people disagree with me, it's because they wish I was wrong. No Panthers fan wants to believe the franchise just took a steamy, brown shit all over the golden opportunity they had to bring in new talent and become competitive, but that's what happened. They should have let Williams walk, they should have tried getting CJ for less, they should have waited on Thomas Davis, and had they done so then they could have added 3-5 significant free agents to the roster.

Dont trip, this information includes the 10 million franchise tag on Kalil. Once we sign him to multi year deal that cap number will go down and free up space.

You expect him to sign for 50 cents?

If he signs for 6 million per year, that only gets us to 5 million under the cap, or thereabouts. I bet they give him more than that though, based on the recent events this offseason.

My point is; we will easily be under the cap once we sign Kalil long term.

I think our strategy here is to wait until final cuts when teams start cutting guys just as fast as they were signing them last week.
Since we have 1st option on waiver wire, we can pick and choose whoever we wanna bring in.
