So did Thomas Davis. :imagestor :D

Yeah, that got me too at first. Weird that they didn't have his senior year stats, seeing as how he was such an all world player for them.

Just out of curiosity, but why? I don't know him or the nuances of MLB vs. SLB well enough to know why he wouldn't be a better fit at MLB.

    nope. Davis played SLB.

For me, it's an explosion on the outside that you can't take advantage of at MLB. He's not an awful fit at either, of course. There's no glaring "he can do this but can't do this" on him, that would force him to one or the other.

But they had Ciurciu and Tufts inside, and whether they viewed him as an inside or not, they put him outside. Which I liked, and hadn't thought about him inside again, but if they do that, that's fine. I think he'd be a good skilled backup to Morgan, but I also think he could potentially start outside.

Man, I knew I was gonna be wrong on that. Shoulda said OLB. :)

Wouldn't disagree, and I have a hunch he'll probably be the #1 or #2 backup at both MLB and SLB, if not a starter at SLB. I'm thinking it'll be between he and Draft at SLB. Possibly between he and Davis at WLB, but I doubt it. Of course, that's not taking into consideration the possibility of drafting a Ryans or Carpenter in the first round.

Ah, it's all academic anyway. The probable reason they drafted Seward in the first place was because he could play both positions well.

Cool, I thought you were giving me smack about the Davis - SLB - WLB thing from last year.

    exactly.
And all that considered, we don't require having a first round LB at all. I won't turn down a Carpenter or even Lawson, but it's not a necessity.
Then again, I didn't believe we absolutely had to have Mangold either.

I'm surprised no one's busted Thelt for stating that "obviously Greenway won't be there when we draft."

Most mocks I have seen show him going pretty high.

Shhh! McFly's got him stashed away in a grain silo in Iowa until our pick.

I may be stupid, but ATP I think I'd rather have Carpenter.

I don't know that Greenway was rated abouve Carpenter before combine, but running a 4.74 40 hurt him, where people had felt he was an athletic guy before then. 4.74's really average. Combine that with lifting 225x16, and he was really underwhelming. Granted, Davis lifted less than that, but he was also projected as a safety, and I felt like that wasn't indicative of Davis' strength. Greenway, expected to pretty much only be able to play SLB, would have to at least be stronger than that, if not stronger and faster, so he's dropping fast.

Greenway was projected to go higher by pretty much everyone, although it wouldn't surprise me if he dropped. That said, I want no part of him. The workout numbers don't really bother me, I was just never impressed with what I saw of him on the field. He had huge tackles totals, but they were pretty empty numbers in my opinion. Also, I do think it's fairly obvious that we need to add LBs given that we lost two starters. We can certainly get by without spending a first or second round pick, though, especially if we feel like Seward can do well with significant playing time (whether as an immediate starter or taking over for Draft as Morgan's babysitter).

If Collin and Magnus would do a radio show on NFL (and all the onair drama that would entail), I would subscribe!
