Dom did a poor job of handling the Collins situation. He should have just said he wanted to try and give us a spark by changing QBs. We had lost five in a row at that point I think. No one would have questioned that. The way Dom did handle it destroyed any trade value Collins may have had and ended any possibility of keeping.

What if Seward is the long term MLB project? That's what he played almost entirely in college, and IIRC, that's what he came in as in the NE game last year.

The more I think about it, the more I want Carpenter at #27.

Carpenter is known as a good blitzer that alone make me want him here. There should be lots of chances for a linebacker who can blitz given the amount of double teaming that will happen against our front four.

He played middle two years. The team's kept him outside, even if that does amount to just preseason and a few games of 05. He's a legit outside guy.

    From CarolinaPanthers.com...

I don't have the game tape, but I'm pretty sure he subbed for Morgan in the NE game. Don't know about any other defensive time he got before he got IR'ed.

he was outside in the NE game, I was pretty sure. He played backup WLB in preseason.
I did quickly look at the UNLV site, and read 2 at MLB, but figured they'd included his senior year. They hadn't.

Ehh. Either way, I feel like he's a better fit at outside linebacker. But if you put him inside, you push the need outside.

I'm not as amped about Carpenter as I was about Mangold, but the Hartwig signing made Mangold a moot point. To me, Mangold was a cornerstone, if not a franchise player. Carpenter, to me, is probably a better prospect at SLB than anyone we have on the roster. Obviously I could be wrong about that, but I haven't seen, heard, or read anything that would suggest I'm wrong so far.
