of the many collisions I saw in my career and on TV, I have NEVER seen anything like that. I would guess they were both running 10-15 MPH each if not 20 MPH which probably made a collision speed of 30-40 MPH with the both speeds impacting head on, which is enough to kill you. They are lucky to both walk away. If Damon's eye orbit isn't shattered, I will be shocked.

To be quite honest, they showed the replay of that dude in the headlock and he didn't do a whole lot. He paid to get in and has every right to heckle. It may be a little harsh, but it was a deciding game. He stood very calmly heckling the Sox and really the Sox escalated it and should of ignored him.

Without knowing what the fan said, you can't say all heckling should be allowed. I am sorry, but kids go to these games and there are certain words or actions that just aren't acceptable.

But I guess it's all in what one thinks about sportsmanship!

good point. I take my kids to games and never curse out loud for them and other kids. I don't know what he said, but I do know that there is nothing a fan can say that should provoke a player. I have had my Mom, wife, family, etc abused by fans and I never spoke to the one screaming at me from the stands. The only time a player should retaliate is if something physical happens like a fan throwing beer, objects, ect. But I don't care if that guy said Jackson's Mom is a slut, he should ignore it. He is on the road in a playoff game and thats life as a ballplayer.

That had happened earlier in the game. Someone in the Red Sox dugout was hit in the face with something. It could have happened Sunday and I am mixing things up, but I am prety sure it was yesterday.

that is not true. the object that hit him in the face was a piece of the Red Sox' weighted bat they swing in the on deck circle. The weight at the end had broken and slid off as a player was getting loose on deck and landed on that guy's face. Fox reported that shortly after it happened. The fans did nothing physical. Btw, I was pulling for the Sox big time with something at stake.

I didn't see them say that. I was running back and forth though. Cool - I am glad that they didn't throw something. Normally I agree with you about a fans right to say something, but with Johnny Damon laying there getting a backboard put on him, tensions were runing pretty high, and if the guy said something about hoping that Damon was paralyzed or something like that, then he crossed the line. I am sure he'll be interviewed - or maybe even sue.......

Any word on what happened to him. From one angle they showed of him laying on the stretcher, the side of his face looked pretty gruesome and swollen.

Thank God someone comprehends that. Give me the major league minimum, and I'll let people heckle me year round everywhere!!!

When was the last time an ambulance was brought onto a MLB field? WAs it when Dave Draveck's arm fell off?
