Headcase, not arguing the fact Fasani made some poor throws, the point I was arguing was that someone said he was in panic mode... which was not true.

Read todays articles... Sapp was impressed with Fasani's composure along with others. Yes Fasani has lots to work on but only more reps in practice etc will help his passing.

I agree Peete is back in, Fasani #2, but whats the word on Winky? Would we see Hass... in and Winky out... I would not think so...

If Henning has anything to do with it... it will be Peete, Winky, And Fasani. We will have 3 passing routes and 3 running plays...

By the way, Henning really fooled the Bucs with that 1st pass on our first play of the game... Sapp was so fooled he fell on top of Randy...

  2. I wouldn't be too hard on Fasani, he was a late mid round pick which means he is a project. Most "projects" are lucky if they get into a game at all in their first year. I'd say he's a 3 to 5 year timeframe to being a quality starter if he improves.

Fasani at least seemed unafraid - But so did Matt Lytle vs. the Rams last year.

Fasani played horribly, really. I still hope he's the guy, for the purpose of saving a draft pick and all, and I'd like to see him on the roster next year, but I hardly think he won the #2 spot.

He made some bad throws that cost us the game. Period. Walls was W-I-D-E open. Peete would've hit that. We would've won. That's why I can't bash Henning's playcalling. Fasani just plain missed his guys. He hits them - we win.

I think qb, wr, and RB will make our team a solid contender. If we can draft them, that'd be amazing. We'll be young, homegrown, and determined. And I'd be thrilled if Fasani was part of it, b/c goddmit - we could use a great 5th round pick.

i'll agree with that. i've always bee impressed with that side of Fasani. the questions to me is his arm, vision and accuracy. and those questions are significant. I'd like to see more of him and against some defenses that are not Tampa's caliber.

    >> whats the word on Winky

think he's back unfortunately. think Fasani is #3 if Peete is ready.

my first thought was about some posters here that were calling for high risk plays ... that's kinda the trouble with 'em. the play that got me was early on when Fasani started to take off and then pulled up to pass ... it was like he was under orders to not to run. and then later henning calles his number on a couple of runs. makes you wonder what the hell they are thinking ... if they are.

Nobody was calling for high risk. Throwing a thirty yard lazy fade on third down and mid isn't smart and nobody would think it is when we'd completed very few passes.

The point, one that was missed, was that when you're 3rd and 11, you call smarter plays than the constant draw or dive play we always run just so we can get third down out of the way. If you're that scared of making a turnover you throw an intermediate pass after clearing people out and see if someone can create. The idea is to attempt to put yourself in a position to succeed, rather than worrying about finding a way not to lose. Throwing thirty yards downfield into double coverage isn't being smart with the football and there's a difference between being smart and stupid with passing decisions - it's a little odd to see someone group the two together as if calling any pass was a mistake since the one decided upon was a mistake.

For the record, when Bear made that comment, Fasani did in fact look scared and was in panic mode. He was tentative making decisions and was constantly flustered by the rush. When he calmed down later in the game, he looked more poised, but the end result was still a very shaky performance.

An interesting parallel was to Lytle. Lytle was very heady, he had a lot of competitiveness in him and he threw a decent game. I have to hope in a year, Fasani can be at least at that level of steadiness.
