ok, we have the #1 center (according to ESPN) coming into the NCAA this year, and I have not seen ANY marketing geared toward Iti. This weekend there was an ad for season tix in the Charlotte Observer for season tickets, and not one mention of Iti! It talked about the NCAA tourny and Lutz. Our season tix are down from last year, and yes, winning is the ultimate seller, but why not market the guy now, to sell some more season tickets? I don't understand why we have this resource and are not using it. Whenever I see other college programs, they ride a guy to death in order to sell more TV, tickets, radio, etc. Locally we should be doing the same. If Iti is sold properly to this market, it would increase ticket sales.

I think he needs to prove something first, that would be putting a lot of pressure on a freshman that apparentely has a long way to go, especially offensively. And, since you were a collegiate athlete, I think you would agree that sometimes that stuff doesn't go well with teammates.

How would you have liked it as hard as you worked prior to your senior season with three years of hard work under your belt to approach the season and everything be about a guy who has not taken part in an official practice yet? Hopefully he proves he is a great talent and next year we capitalize on it. Until then, that would be setting us and him up for failure.

good points. However, if the #1 pitcher in America came on board and could draw more people than me (all 217 of them :D ), I could live with it...I think. If the older guys can't sell the tickets, give the kid a shot. You are right though about the animosity possibilities, maybe Lutz has instructed the marketing of Iti to be low key.

I agree if Iti is as good as advertised, then by all means promote him!
