I believe our first pick #4 overall in next years draft will be a foreign player(unless Raymond Felton has a great year and comes out early) here are a few likely candidates for the #4 pick.

Ha Seung-Jin- Will only be 19 when the draft rolls around and he is already 7-3 and 305 lbs. He is said to be really agile for someone his size. A great building block for a new franchise http://www.nbadraft.net/profiles/haseung-jin.htm

Kosta Perovich- Will also only be 19 when next years draft rolls around. This guy is 7-3 but only ways 240. Not very strong yet but has alot of time to mature. Would also be a great building block. http://www.nbadraft.net/profiles/kostaperovic.htm

Tiago Splitter-again he will only 19- he's 6-10 and 220lbs. Is a Dirk Nowitzki type player, a great shooter just not real physical yet. http://www.nbadraft.net/profiles/tiagosplitter.htm

It looks like we will be able to land a very promising player at the #4 pick-ecspecially if any of the college kids blossom and come out.

If anyone is interested in a 2004 mock draft here-you go.. http://www.nbadraft.net/2004.htm

I'm sure this has been covered but...

I haven't found where we have the 4th pick? Why not #1?

It's never the #1 in the NBA. When the hornets/heat came into the league we got the 8/9 picks that year and when the Raptors/Grizzlies came they got like 6/7.(those picks may not be exact but, I'm too lazy to look it up) So #4 is pretty good compared to those.

With proper credit to Fat Lever from RealGM- This should help us understand how some of this stuff will work.

Here's how the team will be stocked:

Expansion draft: At the conclusion of the 2003-04 season, each team will be allowed to protect eight players from those under contract for the 2004-05 season. Charlotte will have to take at least 14 players from the other teams but can't take more than one player from any team. Teams also can make other deals that are workable under the salary cap, such as financial inducements to take certain players or acquiring players from Charlotte's expansion roster in trades.

The college draft: After getting the fourth overall pick in the 2004 draft, Charlotte will not have any restrictions in subsequent drafts, meaning it could get the top overall pick in the 2005 draft.

Free agents: The team will be able to sign free agents just like any other team.

(note: the team can go over the cap while drafting players in the expansion draft)

Salary cap: The $300 million expansion fee paid by Charlotte will not directly affect the salary cap, as that money is not included in basketball-related income, which is the major variable in the salary cap each season. Charlotte's cap figure for its first season will be two-thirds of the cap for the rest of the teams, and it will be three-quarters of the cap in the second season. Charlotte will have the same cap as all other teams in its third season.

Follow the money: The expansion fee will be divided equally among the existing 29 teams (about $10.3 million a team), but each team will be giving up a sizeable amount in television revenue each season with an additional team. "This isn't done as an economic thing," Granik said.

Realignment: The Western Conference has 14 teams and the East 15. Charlotte will not be put in the West, so realignment is inevitable as the league will likely move to two 15-team conferences.

I like the sound of that 19 year old center. Only 240? He already looks like he'd break Bradley in half. At 19, and that frame, he can get strong.

Quick, name all the good true centers in the East.............and that's my point.

    Premium on these players. Put
