    Anyone have anything to report?

I've had a little success and I feel good which is a plus.

    I'm lost...
I am gonna be starting my diet in 1 1/2 weeks. The next two weekends we are going to be visiting family and such, which will make it hard for me to stick to any type of diet. I am 230 right now in very snug 36's. I would LOVE to be about 190 fitting comfortably in 34's.

I was thinking of trying South Beach. Friends of mine had great success doing it. I've read the book, and it seems to be something I can do. Plus I have high cholesterol, and this "diet" is supposed to be designed to help with that as well.

Can't tell much difference in the fit of my clothes so far, but per the scales I'm down 5 pounds.

Having a difficult time implementing my strategy so far, primarily because my schedule has been so whacked lately. I'm one of those people that really needs a lot of structure. If certain areas are very structured, I don't have to think about them; & that leaves me free & energetic to make more of my "free" time.

Just a word about all the specialized diets & weight loss programs out there. This is a multi-BILLION dollar industry--new shit coming out constantly, & tons of contradictory advice. My personal opinion is that most of it is shit--repackaged & resold. I take all that stuff with a grain (at least) of salt.

Moderation in all things makes the most sense to me. For some reason Americans seem to have a terrible time with that concept.

    FWIW

I have ZERO will power, so the moderation theory is of no use to me. I'm hoping to use this "gimmick" diet to get the weight off. Then once the weight is off, and I feel better, I'm hoping that will give me the will power to moderate what I eat and maintain my weight.

    At least that's the plan...

South Beach is very doable. It's essentially how I lost my 40. I wasn't in the mood to eat nothing but meat but SB is that essentially for the first 2 weeks. I lived off of chicken and salads for the better part of 3 months. Was easy in that I love chicken and salads. Used only Good Season salad dressing and blue cheese on Salads. Ate chicken either grilled, baked or fried with either Italian dressing or Texas Pete as a baste. I ate my fair share of red meat but kept eating salads to keep "the pipes" clean. Eat 5 small meals a day and made myself eat slow. I usually eat like a dog, fast and furious. My stomach recognized when it was full. I only drink low carb beers and damn few of them. Drank Crystal Light and water primarily. Walked every other day or every 3 days 3 miles at a time. You gotta get moving to speed up the metabolism. Once you start losing the motivation is there. Russell Stovers Low Carb candies satisfy the sweet tooth (Toffees kick ass) But be careful not to eat a whole bag thinking it's OK. I want to get down to 190 (my high school weight). I am currently at 200 and wearing a loose (straight out of the dryer) 36 jean. Oh and my cholesterol "was high" but I am screwed by genetics. I was at 280 even eating great. Now at 170 on medication (for 20 years) Pravachol eating what ever I want

185 today... besides the y workout. I started walking 30 to 45 minutes when I can. Didn't eat lunch today so tomorrow it might be up to 187. I really think the walking thing is going to do it. I have walked that about 8 times in the last 14 days.

I'm confused. Are you saying because you didn't eat lunch yesterday, you will weigh more today?

I started my diet yesterday. I am trying to limit myself to 1500 calories per day. I made it through yesterday OK and I have gotten thru breakfast and lunch today without blowing it.
