Other veteren QB's that could be had

Is there anyway we can get some other veteren QB "Other" than Jake Plummer? I mean Kelly Holcomb was hotter than fire and the Couch came back and took his job back. Also Mark Bulger is coming back to the starting job this week. What realistically would it take to get one of these two. I would seriously love to pass on Plummer. But I fear that to pry either one of these two it would cost too much. I can't see anyone taking Warner and his big contract along with his injury history. The Rams might slap the franchise tag tossed on Orlando Pace thus making a move on Bulger possible. What are our chances?

I think if Plummer didn't feel like he had to do it all, he'd be a better QB. I'd be open to a Plummer &/or David Boston signing.

From what I understand, if the Rams don't pick up a $6mil roster bonus, Warner is a FA. I'd rather have Plummer.

As far as just looking to bring a veteren in here, have him start and our new rookie watch, I'd like to make a campaign at Aikman, but I know that's a long shot.

I'm not so sure I'd mind having a "healthy" Peete stay. His finger has been a real problem in his losses, and I'm sure he was a bit rusty for not playing for a few years, but he sure has a touch pass. I think if the coaches told him to get ready to come back next year, he'd show up for camp in a little bit better shape and be ready to go.

But all that and I'm still holding out for Palmer. We get him and all bets are off. He starts right away IMO.

Pace will not be Franchised. Bulger will only need one mill to be protected.

I think Holcomb is still under contract.

I'd caution against loving a player like these too much. No one has gameplanned them yet, they play on teams with good recievers. Having a backup that can do that is a foriegn concept to us, but for the league, not really.

Take the Krydell/Madpicks situation. Kordell comes off a Pro Bowl year, struggles, people yell for Maddox. Maddox comes in, and his accuracy and quick release help him.

Teams start to figure they better press coverage or Maddox will eat them alive. That makes him hold the ball more, he gets hurt, Kordell comes in, his style is more suited against that type of Defense, plays well. Maddox gets healthy, gets taken to school by Aaron Glenn, and now the fans in the stadium are chanting for Kordell.

Lots of guys look good in spurts. Tim Couch has looked good in spurts. Jake Plummer has looked good in spurts. Rob Johnson got a huge contract out of Buffalo, and paid the Jags a first round pick, because he looked good in one playoff game.

Let's not rush and make any mad trades. They are trading him for a reason.

Plummer has zero excuses. Good line that protects him. He's had good recievers. He's just inaccurate and makes too many bad reads in the system.

    Aikman????

Aikman wasn't even as good as Peete when he retired. Let's not pretend he went out on top of his game.

Oh that sounds so Frank Reich.

Agreed on Holcomb and Bulger. Those guys aren't going anywhere.

Hey, don't forget though, the arena league starts right after the Super Bowl this year.

If our scouts didn't suck at QB evaluations so much, I'd send them to the Arena League.

    On the job training.

Aikman didn't exactly have a very good team around him either. Him and Emmit was about their cap allowed. Plus, he wasn't healthy. I think he could step in as a back up and provide some solid depth and leadership.

He's old. He's out of football. He's got a nice gig. He's chubby.

I really get tired of hearing about Aikman coming back.
