Current Pitchers my staff would be

    Randy Johnson
    Curt Schilling
    Greg Maddox
    Jason Schmidt
    Mark Mulder

Closers would be Gagne and Wagner

    Back in the day staff

Bob Gibson. Pound for pound the best pitcher I have ever seen. Batters feared him so that makes it for me
Nolan Ryan. If he had any teams behind him he could have beaten Cy Youngs record. He had to throw that many no hitters as his teams usually sucked ass.
Steve Carlton. Best slider in MLB history and up until this year the lefthander with the most K's
Tom Seaver. Most perfect mechanics in a pitcher ever
Either Bob Feller or Sandy Koufax Fellers numbers don't represent how dominent he was as he missed like 2 seasons in the war. Koufax is god and retiring early only made his numbers look better.

    Closers
Rollie Fingers (best control I have ever scene by a pitcher) I saw on some show they set up 16 dixie cups attached to each other, bottoms facing the pitchers mound in a group. They were numbered and he hit the cup asked of him 7 of 10 times flush.
Goose Gossage. He should be in the HOF IMO

I left out Pedro and Clemens because I think they are both punk ass head hunters.

Nomo psyched himself out. His breaking ball isn't breaking. He's lost his screwball, and his fast ball keeps rising high. If he ever finds his pitch again, he could be dangerous. Thats why Tracey keeps trying him. His shoulder turn hides the ball so long, that hitters can't tell what hes throwing. He's a good pitcher, he just needs to find his pitchs again.

    :applause:

On a side note: I wish I was old certain times in my life, and when we talk about old style baseball, thats one of them. I never got to see these older guys pitch. I love to hear my Pop tell me stories of Koufax and Drysdale. Thats all the glory I get. You older people, you had it nice. You got to see when the players played for the love of the game, and not the love of the money and the business.

Thats tough. If the opponent is a bunch of youngsters I would throw the Unit out there. I still love that All Star game (?) when Kruk went up against Johnson. Kruk didn't have a chance. IMO Maddox has the best control of any pitcher now adays still. He has walked like 100 batters in his career. Nasty stuff. I only saw Gibson once live and a few times on TV. I believe it was in 67 his era was like 1.2 and a butt load of K's. He was flat out the man.

to be honest, out of the first list, right now, i'd take mulder. fucker doesn't lose.

all-time, if you give me the mound that gibson (ya'll are overrating him) threw off of, i'd take randy johnson. can you imagine this guy with the raised mound? :shudder:

oh, and nolan ryan would be my second choice. 7 no-hitters folks. top 5 pitcher easy.

That's probably true, but I wasn't basing my decision on just skill, talent & power. Gibson was an incredible athlete and one mean SOB on the mound. He was the kind of guy who just willed a W.

Randy has always been too laid back to me. He could be sooo feared if he wanted to be.
