Once again, we get Illinois...

I thought in the ACC/Big Tem challenge the number one predicted team in each conference played and so on. But once again we get Illinois and dook plays the fourth higherst ranked Big Ten team in the polls. What gives?

I don't think the acc/big ten challenge has any sort of pre-ranking set. I imagine they make the best tv matchups. A rematch of the title game is obvious, Duke usually plays MSU or Indiana, both of which we have some history in the NCAA Tourney with.

No dook usually plays Michigan. Which is complete bullshit.

My beef is really with the way it always seems to give the Big Ten an advantage since they can't win it outright.

 

I'm pretty sure it is based on the previous season's final rankings and always has been. I could be wrong.

 

You could be wrong. I'm not sure that is why I was asking. But thanks for the info if you are right.

 

No Duke usually played Michigan OUT of the challenge. MSU had been our opponent more than once, but the Michigan series predates the challenge by like a decade.

 

at least they won the big ten challenge last year
