Then why so many different religions? Why is there disagreement on interpretation between members of the same religion? Why do some not believe in Jesus? Why do some worship Allah? Buddha? Mother Earth? Who do some take portions of the Bible literally and discard other parts as only pertaining to a particular time period?

What you are apparently asking for is incontrovertible proof of God's existance in the Bible. If He were to provide that, worshipping Him would be a pretty hollow act. God wants us to worship Him because we want to and because we think it is the right thing to do. Not because we know without a doubt that He exists and that Hell waits for those who don't.

As for disagreement between members of the same religion. They do not disagree on the major tenets of the religion. The things found in the Apostles Creed for example are agreed upon by all Christians.

My opinion is that if god is that insecure and vain, I don't want any part of it.

If He were insecure and vain wouldn't he demand our attention like Fred or canesin4?

But you just said God wants us to worship Him because we want to and because we think it is the right thing to do. That sounds pretty vain to me. Hell, it's why I post here all day. I want people to pay attention to me.

Not trying to offend here but this post makes no sense to me. God is not in our face demanding our worship. That is humble, not vain.

Humble is standing in the background....which god does I suppose. BUT...to demand that we accept him or perish for eternity. Why? To support his need for attention. Oh hail mighty God.

Personally, I'm not exactly sure what Hell is. It could be something as simple as being seperated from God. I do know that if God made it clear to me that Hell was eternal torment in fire and brimstone that my worshipping God would be a hollow act.
