This is probably as much as anything a move to tell George that he isn't moving his team again any time soon. The new guys say they'll keep the team in Seattle, but you have to think that the league would want to keep OKC free for a team to move to when the time comes for the Sonics to renegiotiate their lease.

I would think Portland would leave before Seattle. Portland is an awful team with terrible attendance and Seattle is a pretty big market.

I think it will be easier for the Sonics to leave Seattle (lease at Key Arena ends in a few years) vs. Portland (I think they are locked down to the Rose Garden for another 10-20 years)** .

With as much money as the owner of STARBUCKS has, why not just build a new arena in the Seattle suburubs  ? ? Or build a new arena with U. of Washington (i.e. Canes did with NC State with the RBC Center)?

**yeah, yeah leases can be broken I know, but I'm just saying.

The Canes didn't build that arena.

No way portland is moving. Paul Allen owns that team.

EDIT: If they move anywhere, they move to Seattle.

"I don't like the public supporting a sports enterprise," said 67-year-old George Shinn, who was drinking an Americano at Pike Place Market. "It's a private business. They profit from it."
