    Reality

    • UNC rejected nearly one-third of their 2-point field goals (15 blocked shots in 47 Duke attempts).

    • UNC's defense forced 10 first-half turnovers from the ACC's best ballhandling team.

    • UNC limited the Blue Devils to 32.9 percent shooting on the night, their lowest percentage since November 2006 against Indiana. (They've played 55 games since then.) The Blue Devils missed 11 straight shots after taking that brief 68-66 lead, their first since they were up 3-0.

It was a pretty sloppy game by both teams, but very intense. It led to a lot of unforced errors. Duke had two stretches of 5+ min without scoring instead of their usual one, the last one coming at the worst possible time. Still, glad to see Duke make it a game in the second half after playing their worst half of the season (besting the second half against Pitt.)

UNC had their finest defensive performance, Danny Green swatted everything on drives. Nelson couldn't finish at the rim and that set the tone for everyone, culminating in that Henderson 'leap.' Lawson still looks very injured to me. Last year Nelson would have been completely blown away on that breakaway layup attempt.

Duke needs Zoubek to play more like he did against UNC, and they need Gerald Henderson to get healthy and they need Singler to start acting like a leader and taking over when the team needs someone.

In short, they don't have enough for the Final Four, but an Elite Eight run isn't out of the question. I think they will be a tougher out than last year thank god.

UNC will struggle to make the Final Four if Lawson can't get completely healthy. His game is built around his speed.

I was actually surprised by Chapel Hill's defense. That has been their achilles hill all season but they picked it up during the Duke game. They need to keep that intensity in order to have a change at the NCAA Championship.

Agreed. It has been improving little by little the last 5 or 6 games.

Well some aspects of the game were sloppy such as shooting by both teams. But as TO's go for a game they weren't bad overall for either team. UNC had 12 and dook 13 total for the game. Dook had 10 FORCED TO's in the first half which really put them in the hole for the game.

Either of these teams are capable of making the final 4 and/or winning it all, but they do both have weaknesses. But of course all teams have weaknesses, it's just whether the other team can take advantage of them.

Dook of course has virtually no inside game so they have to depend on their D and the drive and dish to the open 3 offense. If the shots aren't falling for close to their average, they aren't winning the game.

UNC's has been D, they have improved last in the season with their best D game against dook. They will need to continue with the a consistant effort on D. And of course like you stated, I think UNC needs Lawson to be 100% healthy to make a strong push.

    duke got screwed royally.

But who cares? both teams will win their NCAA opener and then get sent home in the second round. it's getting tiresome.
