Well I was too fucking disgusted to post over here earlier today, but I'm sort of over it. I'd rather lose by 30 every week than blow a lead with 2 minutes left every week. Maybe then at least we can see more what's wrong with us.

That being said, I think we need to just start Fasani the rest of the year, unless he gets hurt, and find another guy to sign. I don't know what Weinke's problem is, but it seems once he's named starter, that's all it takes for him to suck. He is fucking awful. And Peete didn't look a whole hell of a lot better the last 3 games.

We've got bigger problems than just QB though. We've GOT to get Foster back and/or get another RB.

Michael Vick killed us today. The defense didn't do that badly in the first half, but in the second, they just wore us out. Vick was running all over the field and we were so damn tired we couldn't catch him or anybody else. When our anemic offense got out there they weren't out there long enough. Vick was the toughest QB we've faced for our defense.

And Dan Henning can suck my asshole with his shitty play calling. I hope they fire his ass.

    there's no controversy...

For there to be one, one of them would have to perform head and shoulders above the others and still be riding the bench. We have Moe, Larry, and Curly playing QB for us and Professor Irwin Corey calling our plays.

By the time the defense got off the feild in the 3rd quarter, Atlanta had almost a 15 minute difference in time of possession, That's right, the defense was out there an entire quarter longer than our offense.

Did Fasani use the armband plays and shit? Weinke did and I thought that odd.

I will always side on whomever the coaches deside is the best option to win, but with that in mind should the Panther coaching staff deside that Chris Weinke isn't the long term option then as it's pretty damned apparent we are no where near playoff caliber, I would think they have to be looking at Randy Fasani for the forseable future to see if he can shoulder the team. With so many good QB prospects coming out we need to mfind out if Fasani is the long term answer. If the coaches still see something in Weinke then so be it but if there isn't a clear cut diference between the 2 then age has to come into play I would think. If we cut loose Weinke in post season and he hasn't triggered any clauses this year maybe the hit won't be too bad

So, your saying we need to find our Shep?

there's no one out there to pick up that i know of. i guess leaf is still around doin nothing somewhere, but i don't think anyone would consider that an upgrade over the current qb situation.

fa list next season isn't great if i remember correctly...plummer and johnson the big names on the list. seems we're in a quandry at that position. hmmm. why was it again we didn't pursue bledsoe in the off season? would've been nice....price be damned, qb wouldn't be a question for the next couple of years at least.

bungles should get the #1, needing 4 wins now to lose it and a loss in the decisive first-pick tiebreaker game with us late in the season. they need a qb but the may also need a rb with dillon threatening retirement. the suspense is killing me.

It is crazy to pass judgement on either Weinke or Fasani based on this game. Neither was given a chance. They were both put in a position to fail. This was one of the worst performances by the OL I've seen in a long time. When either QB was not being sacked, he was facing immediate heavy pressure. You cannot expect ANY QB to be successful with the blocking we saw today, much less an inexperienced Rookie and a 2nd year player who has not started in quite a while. And on the rare times they had more than 2 seconds, none of the receivers could get open.

Simply, this was a bad situation for either to find themselves in. Of coarse, if this were a "running for your life" competition, we would have won hands down. I think if Weinke is able to go next week, he is the starter. He really did not have an opportunity to prove anything one way or the other. And Fasani did not shine so bright, he has earned a spot over Weinke.

Fasani was truly put in an impossible situation: on the road in a loud dome, having to play catch up, with gimpy receivers, and an offensive line that looks like it took lessons from the "Juarez Bullfighting school of blocking." I think several of Fasani's runs were called plays or ones where he was under heavy pressure and had no receivers open, so I am fine with the number of times he ran...I just wish he would learn to slide. His passing was a mixed bag. He had some good throws (not all of which were caught), but also missed on some he should have made. But overall, he showed the inconsistency you would expect from him. If he does end up starting, I think he will definitely get better with more time (both in practice and games). How much better, who knows, but he generally makes good decisions, so if he can just get more consistent with his throws, I think ke will be fine.

Weinke: I have lost all hope in him. He cannot/does not throw to his left. The only "pass" attempt he made to his left was the lateral that we got lucky the refs called incomplete. He also seems to have very limited vision.

Fasani: Really tuff to tell. He throws enough ugly balls that you have to worry. But he was also getting tons of pressure on nearly every play. Coons blitzed him on nearly every down. Someone said the hot receivers were covered but it didn't really look to me like we were ever looking for hot reads. He is more of a running back than a thrower at this point (sorta a poor man's Vick). He does spread the ball around to both sides of the field and he didn't seem to make any worse reads than weinke. He's more of a running back than a QB though at the moment. Still, he seems to me that he will be much more productive than Weinke. You'd think that if they liked him that they would try to protect him and give him some more time before throwing him to the wolves. But they sure didn't seem to mind calling his number all game long. Fox looked like he was seeing hope. I think we have a better chance to win with him than Weinke -- if that's still in the plans for this year. I'd like to see them go to him but am afraid he'll get himself killed if he doesn't start throwing it more often -- course those shots he was taking in the pocket can't be all that healthy for a fella either.

At this point, I'd settle for Fasani doing well enough to be a solid back up next year. I say this because "I think" Peete is done in the NFL except for some spot duty when he heals or perhaps to finish the season because Fasani could not cut it. Anyway, I think Peete and Winky will not be Panthers next season no matter how good or bad Fasani does.

So... I'd like to have one QB on the roster next season that understands our team. For this alone, I hope Fasani does well.

I can agree with that as well.
even if Fasani does very well in the pocket this year I feel like right now we have to go out and get a top quarterback, and probably a more able vet like Brad Johnson or Doug Johnson. But having gotten him experience and use of this system is a good thing at the least. I don't want to see him play the whole season if he's still struggling three weeks from now, for the simple fact that I don't want to ruin another QB before he's had the chance to develop.
