Today Snell only gave up 1 run through 7, but only got two hits and no runs from the offense. Paulino looked shaky behind the plate, but threw out Edmonds at 3rd. Sanchez needs to get a rythm going after being out for most of spring training. LaRoche will be on the bench soon if he doesn't get his shit together. 4-3, not a bad start.

It would be great to the Pirates finish the year at .500. That city has suffered long enough with a franchise that has put a poor product on the field. I think that the expectations for LaRoach need to be realistic. He will hit 20-25 homers if he plays every day. He will not be protected in Pittsburgh's batting order like he was in Atlanta.

LaRoche mad a shit play in the opener against Houston where he should have dug a ball out of the dirt on a throw from short, but he sort of slapped at it and didn't chase after it when it got past him. It's a good thing Paulino was backing him up. If you're a first baseman you need to be more agressive than that and make those plays. I agree that he has some power, but Bay and Sanchez will carry the lineup.

As predicted, this thread can be closed as the Pirates are no longer above .500.

Yep. Laroche has a sweet swing but he is a liability at 1st base. Hell you only gave up 2 good relief pitchers for him.
