Observations on the tournament

Adam Morrison is one weird looking dude. I think he washes his hair and blow dries it and perms it at halftime.

Florida has an ugly girl playing for them.

Tennessee was the most overrated team in the tournament.

George Washington's team were all from another country. Pops Mensah-Bonsu? Regis Koundjia? Danilo Pinnock?

The really stupid seeding has screwed everything up. Some teams have advanced simply because they haven't played anyone. There's also a ton of ugly basketball this year.

 

Dook has an ugly boy playing for them.

My observation is Billy Packer is looking like a douche. Mids have represented pretty well against some good Power teams.

First two rounds have been pretty boring cause there really isn't atht many great teams. Aside from some great last second shots there hasn't been an exciting match up yet.

 

Wisconsin-Milwaukee is just flat out good and Northwestern State deserves a lot of credit for beating what looked like a pretty solid Iowa team, but most of those "good power teams" really weren't that good to begin with. Bucknell was simply a better team than Arkansas, Kansas was very overrated due to a weak Big 12 schedule, Michigan State had lost 6 of their last 10, and Seton Hall had lost 5 of its last 8.

That said, I do think the gap between the best of the mid majors and the mediocre teams in the power conferences has narrowed if not disappeared. A lot of people have mentioned the idea that mid-majors keep their guys for four years, and that may certainly be a factor, but whatever the reason it just seems like those teams play much more fundamentally sound basketball. It kind of reminds me of the comparison between European and American NBA players. It might be ugly basketball because they just aren't that talented and can't score very much, but the mid-majors generally don't beat themselves while the big guys often do.

 

this tournament is still the best thing going even as much as it hurts when you get knocked out. its my favorite weekend of the year by a mile.

 

i honestly think this tourney is as good as 99. most of the games have been close. not to mention carowhina losing to a double digit seed.
