This has nothing to do with anyone or anything here. Listening to Primetime from time to time they alway brag on listener participation during BB season. This is supposedly a BB area yet the callers seem to know less about basketball than the football crowd does. All you get is ignorant homers.
    Carry on.

people who call in to radio shows to argue with radio yahoos are usually pretty ignorant.

unlike the super intelligent types that argue on internet message boards

probably because there is alot more emotion involved in the basketball discussion. These people have been eating, breathing, living ACC basketball since they were little kids. And they are arguing against each other everyday ( and have been for years) at work and school and in the bars.

Everyone who calls in to talk football are Panthers fans - they want to talk football not which team or coach is better.

and thats exactly why I'm still such a b-ball fan

I remember spending hours in jr high arguing with State fans ( there was no such think as dook or wake fans)

my daughter is 13 and does the same thing now - she is a Carolina fan of course and is always arguing with school friends and making bets over the UNC/State and UNC/dook games.

Arguing over the rivalries is as much a part of it as the games themselves.

Ever thought it has something to do with the numbnutz host named Fudge who knows shit and nothing about college hoops, never has any serious analysts (like Katz or Bilas) on, and creates and fosters the barney fife atmosphere that attracts toothless rednecks who never went to college, let alone UNCCH or Duke, but call in saying "we" and "us" all the time? How about Fatseed & QCidiot? Examples 1 & 1a. :shakehead

Fudge sucks. Move Penner & Mac to drivetime or get any national show on instead. I'm dying for decent sports radio all year long, but especially during hoops season.

there's a lot more to know about football, therefore people know more. You have tons of positions, any idiot knows some plays, and there's analysis all over the place.

In basketball you have the one staple defense, man D, or you have zones that describe the exact point of the zone; you have five positions, with the middle three less defined from each other. You can learn the colors and the mascot and pretend you're knowledgeable.

about all you get with hoops is "we got Coach K" vs "we're the most talented team in history"
