I graduated high school in 1989. Was at USC until 1993. So I've always been an outsider when it comes to N. Carolina football.

Am I wrong? App. State and ECU fans seem to (and have for the last decade+) really have it figured out. Those are the 2 FOOTBALL schools. Fans pack the stadium. They travel like hell. What's wrong with UNC and State?

I'm not talking about facilities, salaries, who the coach is, ACC, or any of that shit. Just the fans.

App State and ECU are like small SEC schools. LOVE their passion.

    NCSU always packs it's stadium.

ASU didn't catch on until this year really.

An outsider probably wouldn't know that.

I've been to app games. They are as bandwagon as anyone. When they only won 6 or 7 games for a few years, people had other things to do. Now that they win NC's, all of the sudden people love them.

Winning makes anyone have a great atmosphere at their stadium. When UNC starts winning, people will go buy some tarheel stuff and show up to the games like people do with every other program. Granted, every program has diehard loyal fans, but they are usually far outweighed by bandwagoners who hop on for the winning years.

Didn't know that App was a recent thing. I work with an App guy and he talks about it like it's a religion. Of course they HAVE been winning recently...

Why does UNC need billboards on I-77 to sell tickets? With their alumni base, wouldn't they have mostly sellouts...even though ATTENDANCE is down?

I went there and while there was always a healthy crowd it was never the thing to do. This was early mid 90's when they were pretty good but not to like the current level.

I went to a playoff game the weekend of Thanksgiving last year and it wasn't close to capacity. This year I've heard is completely different than it's ever been there.

Guess I'm talking to people that recently caught the fever. They talk about it like it's always been this way. Hell...the aforementioned guy in my office had a plane flight this morning @ 7 to Chattanooga in order to see the game tonight.

I've always wanted to go to a game there.
