I was at a local pharmacy last Friday and picked up 2 DVD's for $5. One stars Joe Pesci and the other Dennis Hopper. These are completely unheard of movies, both from the 70's.
The Enforcer is Pesci's first movie. I watched it last weekend and despite that porn-like film quality it was a damn good movie. I noticed MANY similarities to Goodfellas.
The Hopper movie is called Mad Dog Morgan. I haven't watched it yet, but read the back and it says it's from his "Wilderness" years. When he was too wierd for Hollywood and was pretty much blacklisted. Plan to watch it tonight.

Anyone have any out of the mainstream or old movie titles that they really liked?
I need to start watching somethings that require a little more thought or are just raw, but well written.

Those movies were all popular in their day, they are just old and forgotten. The ruling class is a great movie, as are V and O lucky Man. The trip with peter fonda is interesting. Missouri Breaks is interesting as well. Little Murders is good. Joe is good Naked Lunch, Bronco Billy, I wish I could remember more but that was kind of a fuzzy period in my life.

That the Spielberg flick about life in a Japanese prison camp in China, through the eyes of a kid?

If so, I saw it; definitely worth a view.

Sex, Lies & Video Tape is a good one, IMO.

Oh How I won the War is interesting too if only because it's the only feature film john lennon ever made.

you know, the advance press on two lane blacktop touted it as a best picture nominee in 1971. then it came out. and it was so...bizarre...that audiences didn't really know what to make of it. entertaining movie, and i think it's well made, but it's just really out there....experimental almost.
