8:07 PT: The Sun Times reports agent Marc Pollack said Carolina, Cincinnati, Denver, Miami, Minnesota and Philadelphia, in addition to Atlanta, have expressed an interest in free agent DT Ellis Johnson (Colts). Pollack also contacted the Bears, but GM Jerry Angelo said nothing is immediately in the works.

So yes, we're interested. And apparently Szoke said today that a Gilbert cut was definitely possible this week.

I'd love to axe the Giblet.

God, that would do wonders for rebuilding.

It would be a bigger Symbol of rebuilding than firing Seifert.

say he does sign, does he step in and immediately become a starter? i don't know much about him except for the fact that he was on a terrible defensive unit last year in indy. is he more of a one-gapper or two-gapper? would he line up w/ peppers or rucker? can anybody help me w/ these questions?

What are the financial ramifications if we put his laim ass tendonitius kneed self on IR and/or released him with an injury settlement?

  5. I liked Johnson - thought he was faster than Gilbert, and did a tolerable job holding at the point of attack. He also seemed to get penetration - which would be great from a DT.

In regard to Gilbert, JR just hired me to be the Panthers new "capologist" - I sold the naming rights to his jersey to Krispy Kreme - we can handle his cap hit, and still have enough left over to give every PSL owner a brand new BMW.

    Next target, Weinke's contract...

If he's on IR he still counts. No relief.

If he's released he's just gone. Then it's released. I don't know how injury settlements work on the cap.

I wouldn't be counting on Johnson, KFFL is reporting this morning that he's close to signing with the Falcons. We may be stuck with Gilbert.
