Dammit, I haven't watched since week two. Working two jobs has been whippin' my ass and leaving me zero time for television. Is it worth watching the whole season, Magnus? I have them DVR'd.

I love the show, but was disappointed with the finale. There's always gonna be somebody whining about a series finale, but I think I'm usually pretty forgiving. I thought going so far into the future was cheesy.

Don't make me get into specifics.

I don't even have HBO, so your specifics would merely be the ramblings of a malcontent.

I loved the finale and know at least 5 people who feel it was the best television finale of all time ( or so far anyway)

AS for the look into the future being cheesy, I think not - because I was wondering how they could possibly wrap up all these stories, and how better than to show the end... for each character, because that's what the show was about - death, relationships, life, but again - ultimately death.

It was perfect. Was that Tori during the last 10 mins? I cried. I know men who cried, and they're straight, so it must have been good!

The show centered around death. To show them all die was a very interesting way to show some finality to the characters. I'd say they could've developed David's life a little more, and it didn't make sense that Keith was still doing security, considering that was the only storyline that had direction at the end. It was odd focusing so much on Claire suddenly, but her being the last to go, apparently not having kids (?), tying it to her leaving? Sure. It makes sense. Of course, it's not a matter of it being perfectly logical, it's a matter of forming an artistic feeling and going with it. In the moment, it was very powerful.

I'd say so. If you're a fan of the show, it'll let you complete the storylines, even if you're not a fan of how everything unfolds. I thought the last season was tremendously interesting.

I agree that the show wrapped everything up, and there have been shows that haven't done so and left me wondering, so it was nice to have that "closure", and finishing with each death was consistent with the theme of the show. Here's what bugged me, though:

In the end, Nate learned nothing and taught nobody anything in life or death. In fact, it was almost set up like he was the most negative force in everyone's life, and once he died, people started getting healthier, not because they learned from his death, but because he introduced a little bit of his negativity into everyone's life. I was looking for him to learn something, either in life or death, and/or to teach that to his family.

Brenda's considerable personal issues never get addressed. Are we supposed to assume that simply squeezing a kid out of her was going to make her stop destroying her relationships?

Keith, looking like some stereotypical old black man working security, getting shot? That seems totally inconsistent with the direction his and David's life go.

Claire, re-meeting Ted years later at a funeral and getting together with him? Super cheesy.

I guess ultimately I was disappointed to find out how totally atheistic the show turned out to be. It was a bit of a tease to have all of those little supernatural appearances of people, yet have none of it pertaining to any sort of universal principles or God figure. The dead people coming back were basically only there to tweak the fears of whoever they were appearing to. We never got an opportunity to know any more about Nate or his father through their reappearances. It seems like it's not very ambitious if the only reason you're seeing dead people is to introduce the person seeing them to their own fears.

I thought Ruth and the Diaz' were the best developed characters in the end.
