Joal (Chicago): You gotta love Rodney Peete. Do you think he'll continue to provide the surprising Panthers with consistent QB play? Or will the honeymoon soon come to an end?

Chris Mortensen: (1:36 PM ET ) Let's clear up something: Panthers coach John Fox did NOT declare Peete the starter for the rest of the season. The basic theme in Carolina is that as long as they win, remain competitive and Peete is playing well, he'll probably be the MVP. If by November, they are comeptitively out of it, I imagine we will see both Weinke and Fasani so the Panthers can make a decision next April on whether they need to draft another QB.

Rick, Buffalo: What is the status of Foster in Carolina? Is he close to returning? What do you think about Barlow in SF? I think he should be the starter with Hearst backing up.

Chris Mortensen: (1:44 PM ET ) Foster probably could play this week but because the game is on Astroturf (Minnesota), they expect him to play the following week. The word is that Barlow will be getting more carries.

    That's good news on Foster.

If that's true, he definitely will be back for the Arizona game, and may see time against the Packers. I have my doubts though. That wasn't the impression I've gotten from reading Fox's comments. We'll see...
