anywhere I lay my head I'm gonna call my home
random notes after looking at box score and highlights:

Foster's runs, taking away the long hit, was still 6 for 26 - 4.3 yards per carry. Some say that Foster was playing against most of Washington's starters - it's probably because they were in nickel. If you take away Lamar Smith's longest run, well, you're better off. 4 for -3 is just plain poor, though Foster got his with the benefit of the Skins' DL being out, I believe. Second string for them is ugly.

If you take away Peppers' best statistic you're left in the hole. However I'm not that concerned, at the least he held contain and got some pressure now and again. Jansen's the type of in-line tackle that you have to use good handwork and exploit, because he's that good, and because a guy like Peppers will usually struggle a little against this type player anyway. Still, Jansen had his share of help.

Goings won the battle of the H-backs so far, funnily enough since he rarely lined up at anywhere but fullback. Still it was a newer game experience for him and it worked out ....probably enough to secure him a roster spot. He converted a first down and had a nice sweep weakside. Reminds me of last year's preseason, when the only running plays we seemed to call were to Goings, and all of them sweeps.

Fasani's long hit excluded, he was still 5 of 8, 77 yards.
However, you'd like to see him spread it out more, as Bright was 4/5 of his yards. Still it's not a major gripe, though I list the rollouts being as big a part of the game as they were as a gripe.
All in all a much better choice of targets compared to his PSL day antics that looked similar - one long bomb - but at that time included a bunch of dinks to the TEs and backs.

Sure am glad we picked Fields up. Not feeling that bad about Witherspoon right now either. Overall the moves from this season ahve been very solid ones...save the deal with Smith, so far, but it still should help in various ways and offer great depth. If he's done, he might as well do it here. Everyone else does.

I agree with this 100% - Frankly I don't care if Fasani threw across his body or whatever. It was obvious to "most" anyone that watched the game that he "demonstrated" an "obvious" ability I don't think we will ever see in Winky. I'm not saying we can't win games with Winky, but the defense obviously can not allow half as many points.

To group Watkins and Fasani in the same "group" is just plain wierd.

Anyway, this should be an exciting preseason, I think it would be a good thing to heat up the QB battle, in the end one of the guys will elevate their game, and thats a good thing, right.

Bright is a bad ass. Outplayed Smith, outplayed everyone at his own level and might bump some guys back a spot. I know Fasani threw a pretty ball from where I was but Bright straight punked his DB.

Hell yes - I've been telling ya'll since mini camp that this guy will make the roster. He's got a great coach in Williamson, too.

Speaking of punking DBs, that was a world class run by Foster. All I have to say.

His run to the outside and out of bounds was super sweet, too. Beautiful to watch his timing, side-stepping, stiff-arming. WOW.

Fasani has a cannon of an arm. Fasani got me stoked. I ABSOLUTELY disagree that he should work with the 1st team, but he should get reps with the second from now on.

Morgan made ALOT of plays, Mag. Fields made a couple sweeter looking ones - and he can lay the wood.

Speaking of which - alot of our guys can lay the wood.

How come Peppers got to take a powder for the rest of the game even before the first quarter was over. I saw him do nothing when he was in. I know it's pre season but jeez I'd like to see him work up a sweat anyway.

    Two or three things I saw and liked un this game;
I was greatly relieved that Weinke showed good accuracy and range in his passing.

I finally saw some hitting and tackling. Some of those Skins paid for catching those balls.

Prehaps my favorite D play was the one made by Jackson. All Pro Samuels had a clean shot at Brad but Jackson tossed him aside and made the tackle. I jump up on that one. Can't remember a Panther LB doing that for awhile.

Fasani is right, he does look like Farve playing QB. I not saying he's as good but he looked just like Brett last night.

    Foster is beautiful!

Most disapointing aspect of the game was ST. Shit, they cost us the game

I agree Reb. That shot of him yawning and seemingly disinterested sitting on the bench will only reinforce the “lazy” label that has already been stuck on him. It’s the coaching staffs fault for not having him in there and you would think that they would want him to get as much game time experience as possible.
It says to me that they are going to take their time bringing Peppers along but I hope they don’t baby him and give him special treatment due to that ridiculous 50 million dollar contract. At some point someone will probably need to ride his lackadaisical ass and challenge him into getting fired up about beating someone. He’s not going to get by on natural born gifts alone . . . not in THIS league.
I am concerned about his lack of fire, but I guess when you look at how good Foster is looking you can pretend that he was the #2 over all pick and Peppers was a 2nd rounder.
    Now I feel better.)

I agree with MVM that Weinke's the guy and should get the starts. Financial considerations dictate that he's our starter. He was solid, if unspectacular, and you don't want to be giving mixed signals to the guy after everything he's been through.
That said, I also agree that it was a different, more dynamic, offence with Fasani at the helm. He looked like a right handed Steve Young to me. I'm not saying that he will be but he was tough and creative out there.
Also, I loved the combination of Morgan and Fields. They were flying all over the place out there.

Daunte Wesley was toasted twiced for TD's. He was picked on the entire time he played. Everyone in the league is aware of our DB situation. I think we should cut some dead weight and find another DB. Howard and Cousin are listed as the starters. I didn't really see them get burned and Howard did recover a fumble, but Wesley needs a year to learn behind a vet.

That'd be great if a db better than anyone we already have was available.

Plenty of great NFL corners rise from the ashes of being picked on for a year or two when they are green. IMO if Wesley gets hammered on all year it’s only going to accelerate his development and eventually he will not be the target.
Jenkins was (and will continue to be) picked on too but unfortunately he is about as good as he is ever going to get.
    KEEP DANTE ON THE FIELD!!!

BTW - Cousins just does not have enough reach in todays NFL. He's too short and it was apparent last night. If he was 6' 1" he could have made at least 2 plays on balls and one of them was a TD. (
