Y'all ought to be embarrassed for tolerating that Central/Meso American shit they serve out there. It ain't authentic.

I’m not eating it because they call it Mexican, I’m eating it because I like the spices.

You’re entitled to your opinion. If NC Mexican food is gay, I just finished an absolutely FABULOUS lunch.

I'll chalk it up to you not ever having real Mexican food. I can find all kinds of things wrong and inauthentic about that slop.

I've had local food in Mexico City a few times. That's good stuff and you're correct that it only bears a passing similarity to what Mexican restaurants serve here. What I had for lunch was good too though, at least I found it so. Sorry that you don't like or approve of it, but no one's asking you to eat it either.

Red is from California so his opinion doesn't count.

Brother, I hear ya. Have you had Mexican food in the border region extending from Rosarito, Mexico to north Los Angeles? If you have, you know good Mexican food. If not, I am excited for you to try it. You'll immediately know what I'm talking about. Up north, we have good stuff, but not like there.

Mexico city, while authentically Mexican, is quite different than the aforementioned areas I spoke of. As is that TexMex BS.
