I'm just trying to get some ideas of normal b/p for my age range. Prior to a year ago it was in the normal range. Now it runs between 145/90-140/89...I have been to the docotor he says there is nothing to worry about. Yet my heart palpatates, the blood feels like it is rushing to my head, and causes dizziness. Hypertension runs in the family as well as 3) Heart Attacks, though should I believe he is correct in his diagnosis? Or is he assuming I am young and healthy?

Thank you for any reasoning in advance~

Those numbers are kinda normal/high. I don't think your doc would assume anything though.

    general rule...

    systolic (top #)
    140-149 -borderline
    over 150- high

    diastolic (btm #)
    90-99- borderline
    over 100- high

Your BP is the mm of mercury of pressure inside the arteries.

The top number is the pressure when the heart beats and the bottom number is the pressure when the heart relaxes.

Borderline, but doubt they'd do much more at the moment than give you Lasix to get the fluid down. And you don't want to go to the potty all morning long.

I thought they were borderline. He is a bit of a slacker. Maybe I am just pre-disposed?

Thank you so much Fred, I think it may be attributed to anxiety.

He's not doing much at all. This is a case where I am inbetween being relieved, and worried. I'm not worried about my current status, as much as down the road. He has too many patients, but he is a good doctor, he just doesn't take me seriously. :(

All your blood work normal? Have you had your thyroid checked with the palpatations? Make him check everything out before he assumes anything.

All my blood work has come back normal. He has done so many tests on me, I feel like a Science experiment. I'm thinking I need to change doctors. I haven't had the palpatations today, thus far.

They are gonna start with the caffeine schtick. No coffee, no diet cokes yada yada. I really don't know that elevated blood pressure causes palpitations alone but could be another symptom of the bigger picture. Yup, I would change docs.
