I heard stirring music playing in the background as I read that.

He was gonna be the starter. His only competition was Simms and Gradkowski. So in all honesty it was never really a question, ecspecially considering his competition. The only reason Garcia was brought in, was because Plummer never showed.

Agreed....could go either way. And unfortunately, in this case, Jake has always been good at getting the team believing. Can he do that from the sidelines?? Probably not as well, so somebody will need to step up and lead.

they do and we'd get ass raped draft pickwise (not to mention his big dollar contract) trying to get him from a division rival at this point.

This is exactly what I said I thought it was during that game (thank you to those who mocked me because I'm not a medical expert). If the ligament damage isn't especially severe, Jake could rehab and be back before the start of next season, but if those rumors are true then that's obviously a different story. The one part that doesn't sound right is Jake throwing in the towel. He doesn't seem like the type to just give up on his career, so I'm remaining skeptical on that one for now.

Unfortunately we're a little late now with Culpepper and Leftwich off the market, but you could do worse than Rattay. Carr is one tough son of a bitch and played through all that abuse in Houston, but we obviously have to prepare for the possibility that he misses time as well.

The one thing I really don't like is the "our season is over" or "no way we can win with Carr" crap. I understand the natural reaction to bad news of this kind, but those comments are not helpful or true. Having Carr at QB doesn't even rank in our top 5 as far as our most pressing concerns. He played pretty well yesterday and should be fine if not as productive as Jake. Hopefully the team will rally and actually get to running the ball and playing better defense. If that happens, this team can do whatever it wants to. If they don't, it wouldn't have mattered who was at QB. In any case, I wish the best for Jake and hope to see him behind center next season.

They were in discussions with Garcia before they traded for Plummer.
