Still no respect from the national press.

I'm surprised. I hope our guys feed off of this.

Good. I’d rather be the worst 3-0 team in history, rather than the best 1 and 15 team. Let’s keep sneaking up on people.

I’m a believer. This defense is for real.

    Why is it??

That EVERY team we beat becomes the WORST team in football this year... well as far as the media goes...

Week 1 - Baltimore: As a team they were expected to struggle, but be a middle of the pack team this year... Carolina comes in and knocks them off first game... suddenly the media says The Ravens are awful and are the league's worst team.

Week 2 - Detroit: Don't get me wrong there were no high expectations for the Lions, but we were considered WORSE than them at season's start... as far as the media goes that is... they visit and we DESTROY them... suddenly not only are they STILL bad, but apparently they are WORSE than Baltimore... you know the same Baltimore heralded the WORST team just one week earlier. (Note: At this rate this whole damn league's gonna suck)

Week 3 - Minnesota: Before the seasonthe Vikes were considered an upper midcard team... their strengths would be Culpepper and Moss of course... and their weaknesses would be if their other recievers would be able to play good enough... hmmm... after watching Sun game that looks screwed up... but anyways back to my point... even though they were 0 - 2 so far in this season the odds makers and ALL major media sources outside of NC had the Vikes picked to beat the Panthers... because the Vikes are a "good team that just lost close games to higher talent"... here comes lowly Carolina and beats them in THEIR house and shuts down the running game, attacks Culpepper from all angles, shuts down Moss, stops one of the leagues higher rated running offenses, and runs ALL over one of the leagues higher rated run defense... guess what the media says today.. on ESPN they say the Vikes are (you guessed it) one of the WORST teams in football this year.

What a load of horseshit... someone give credit where credit is due... the Panthers are playing hard... making very few if ANY mistakes in games... the coaches are OBVIOUSLY puting in time and making up GREAT game plans and getting their guys to exicute them... why can't someone just say "Carolina is playing GOOD" rather than everyone they play against is playing BAD.

Get use to it. If we beat Green Bay...in their house...it will be said that they aren't as good this year and Farve may be losing a step. They've already set it up as such mentioning that he just doesn't have many weapons this year (only Glenn, Franks, and Green). After that, it's Arizona (a nobody) and Dallas (ditto). Until we play in the division, we will get no respect and that's cool with me. Think about it, if everyone we play is a "nobody" that will eventually make us better than 12 other teams at least. (of course that would require us to all but win out, which would be impossible. Enjoy the win and nod and smile to your friends. We have a defense again.

  5. well, it is true, the panthers have beat three lousy teams. It's not their fault, it's just the way the schedule is.

There are some problems up in Minn....I've never seen a QB yell at a receiver like that, especailly one that doesn't take criticism well. Tice can't handle the egos or motivate the prima donnas like Denny could.

this reminds me of the year when Kurt Warner burst on the scene and lead the Rams to an unbeleivable season. It was week 8 or 9 before they "played somebody." That somebody was the Titans who won but also had two weeks to prepare for the game.

Yep. The defense is for real.

Regardless of these teams being 'struggling', we've limited them to an average of under 10 points per game.

The Ravens the exception, who were shutout in their only other game, this is a heavy contrast to the Lions, who have scored an average of 26 ppg outside of the Panthers, and the Vikings, who have scored an average of 31 ppg outside of the Panthers.

That's strong. The Lions scored 21 vs. MIAMI. Miami has a good defense. They jacked up 31 against the Pack. The Vikings scored 21 vs. the Bears.

To me, this shows a pattern. And yeah - they're 0-8, 3 of those losses come from losing to US.

But hey - it's fine. I'd rather not get respect than be one of the over-rated 0-2 or 0-3 teams right now.

Also, alot of the low scores are the result of a heavy TOP to the Panthers. But, that's part of the game plan. Total team effort.

    Awesome.

Our Defense is for real. Agreed.

We have a running game too. We've always had it, just never used it.

Last year the Bears went 13-3. The previous year they we're 3-13. They never got the respect until late in the season, they beat SF in OT or in the final seconds of the game when the Defense intercepted and score a TD on the game final play. (Something like that, they did it 2 weeks in a row)

So as far as respect, seriously, we don't deserve it. And that's our edge to winning games, so what, I'll take it. Actually, I'm loving it.

For the past 4 years(i think it may be 5) there has been one alarming trend in the nfl........one team has gone from worst in thier division to first in their division.

That distiction belongs to the Panthers this year........

It was 2 OT's won in consecutive weeks on plays by Mike Brown. The Bears are a team we are looking very much like these days. Old QB, solid running game, gritty O-line, average to below average WR's, STUD MLB, run stuffer D, questionable on the corners, solid deep middle and play makers up front.
I LOVE the fact that Carolina gets no respect. It's motivation week in and week out!
