Farout. I want us to look this good against the conference teams. Peete is impressive. Peppers is a force today.

Did you hear when one of the broadcasters said Porcher said they weren't even lining up correctly last week.... that sounds like bad coaching.

  3. WHOOOO HOOOOO Another Panther win!!! ( I know someone who won't be in a pissy mood yet again this week!)

2-0 and tied for the Division lead with the Aints! Life is good, for now.
There aren't anymore cream puffs on our schedule though. If they keep playing like they have, I think they can be a playoff contender. However, that's going to be a tall order when you have the Vikes, Bears, GB, AtlantaX2, TampaX2 & the SaintsX2. Of those nine games I can see 4 wins, 5 if we get lucky.
    I originally said we'd go 6-10, now I am thinking .500 is a possibility.

Very well managed game by the staff! Did anyone notice how un emotional Winky boy was when he came in for mop up duty? He looked lost...

Weinke looked terribly lost. His ego and confidence are shattered....

The most noteworthy thing about todays game was the fact that we only converted 3 3rd downs to my count. I may be wrong but I only counted 3. Against this lack luster team of Detroit it wasn't a factor but against a stronger better team it will be.

    Sorry 'bout that CoopsFan.

Between a little yard work this morning, a dip in the jacuzzi, a little husbandly duty, and a big bowl of chili, I decided to couch it for the game today. I don't think I got up once.

It was a great game. It was almost like you couldn't wait to see the Defense back on the field so something exciting would happen. Then finally in the 2nd half, the Panthers broke it out a little.

When we ran on 3rd and long and punted, then Detroit marched 76 yards for a TD to make it 10-7, I got worried. I thought Fox and Co. might have been sitting on the ball too much because we didn't have much left to give offensively (ex:no more smoke and mirrors). But the Panthers opened it up a little and Peete got a good rythm going on the next drive to make it 17-7.

On the next Detriot drive, Minter picked it off for a TD to go 24-7. I think that not only did it for the Lions, but Def & Off just woke up and finished them off. That was really great! To close the game out like that, coming away with a 31-7 victory, showed me the Panthers weren't about to wait around to lose another game in the 4th to a team they should beat.

Kasey - Well, I know you missed pre-season and all, abd those weren't shot FG's, but get it together dude. The 23 yarder was slicing hard. After we scored the second TD though, you nailed the PAT pretty solid, like an exclamation point! Hopefully you kicked enough of those today to get your game back on track.

Sidenote question, if we want Saurbrun to kick, who holds?

Peppers - You Da Man. I don't know what that was putting you at LB, but you were right about "start playing instead of thinking so much". Just awesome. I real impact player.

Gilbert - Did you know theres not a limit to the amount of DL that can record a sack?

Morgan - Back-to-back great games. Always around the ball. Last week on Balt's last drive: tackle, tackle, int. This week making plays all over the field. What was Seifert thinking not playing you at MLB.

Stussie - Did you play? I never heard your number. Oh yea, that's a good thing. Good job!

Defense - Overall solid, great game. And excellent blocking on Minter's TD!

Offense - Was there a even a penalty on you guys today? Was there a sack? Not that I can remember.

We did pretty good getting 1st downs on 2nd downs though. I like the fact that on 3rd and long, we didn't get desperate. Benefit of having a good Defense.

Looked like lions committed to stopping the inside run game and forcing Peete to beat them. Good plan on surface but Panthers defense was too much and offense got too many chances and eventually figured out lions defense. Lions defense was on the field too much.

Henning did nice job of mixing things up and taking advantage of lions defensive backs. Nice use of L. Smith on pass routes. Del Rio has defense pumped. Lots of energy and confidence.

Running game continues to be suspect. Foster will help greatly as teams will have to respect his ability to go inside and outside. Hoover is developing in to a frickin bull. We got no push from OL on the left side at all. Goings made some nice plays. Brown had a great block. Smith is a big plus over what we had last year. At least have a good chance to pick up 3rd and 1.

WR's had a good game pacticurlarly in all that rain. Moose made a couple of awesome catches. Seemed liked he was showing a little pep out there. I think he likes Peete. His worst sin of the day was running his route a half yard short on a 3rd down completion. Walls got ripped on the catch they disallowed -- really bad call. S. Smith is coming on and really helping the offense. Magnum dropped a couple of balls i think. Think S. Smith dropped a ball in 1st half that would have gone for big yardage -- helped killed the drive (nice read by Peete on blitz).

Peete. What can you say. He doesn't look good but he got it done again today. Seems to see the field well. Rarely got himself in trouble. Not much mustard but some pretty touch. No errors. Hung in there and delivered beautiful ball to Moose just before getting crushed. I think Rip Van Winkle would be a good nickname for him. I think Sandman said it but Weinke continues to look confused and apathetic. His one pass was disgusting. I don't think the guys like him. I don't like him.

OL continues to give good pass protection but little push in the running game. No penalties on Terry today? or the rest of the OL? Amazing!

DL was awesome again. Allowed Stewart some yards early but pass rush was beautiful. Peppers was a pussycat on his first sack -- letting up and not taking the QB to the ground. I thought it was an unusually smart play for a rookie to not take the chance on a penalty. He more that made up for his niceness on his second sack when he absolutely launched the QB. And the QB looked like he might be done for on Pepper's 3rd sack. Plus a couple of batted balls. Looked like Detroit came out concerned about him as they were running at him and throwing little passes out to the flat on his side (which he destroyed). What to do about this guy? Ruckers, Jenkins and Buckner also had big games.

LBs were good. Naives got ripped on the pass interference call IMO. Morgan continues to make big plays.

Safties and CB's played great. The coverage was very good all over the place though we got a lot of helped with dropped balls. Lions looked like we did last year. Still they broke up several passes and got the INT that sealed the game. Minter had a huge game but had one glaring missed tackle. Several penalties on special teams. Put us in bad field position and negated a nice return by Smith.

ST look solid. No breakdowns defensively like we were having in preseason. Kasay missed two FGs that help lions stay in game longer than they should have. That's a concern but hopefully the weather had a lot to do with the misses.

Other than the 2 missed FGs, a couple of dropped passes and ST pnaties the team did very little to hurt itself. Just based on the lack of errors and penalties, you'd have to say the team seems to be improving quickly. Whether we have enough talent to play with the better teams ... well, I guess we're fixing to find out. At least we can now beat the bad teams. If we can win one of these next 2 games, I think folks will quit laughing at loud at Witherspoon and hope may begin.

I thought this was a must win game. To lose to the lions would have been devastating. They scared me but it was obvious that the Panthers are the team on the way up.
