    I started in the middle by reading a new release years ago and liked it so much I went back and bought all the previous ones and read them in order. I would recommend reading them from the beginning but some people jump around.

    I was waiting for this answer as well. I am going to get these books and start with the first. With all of you going on about how good they are I have to check them out.

    It's a series of about 15 books by now by John Sandford (John Camp). They are murder/mysteries revolving around a protagonist, Lucas Davenport, who is kind of a renegade, sadistic criminal investigator.

    Don't know about sadistic, but he'll put your ass in the ground in a minute without even thinking about it if you deserve it. Don't fuck with Lucas.

    Yes, definately read in order, like others said, characters change, come and go, etc. Will add to the story, and can't remember which two books, but were kind of tied together.
