The dark cloud is lifting in the NL East. The Braves have desided to cut payroll and watch 3 of their best players sign with others. javy Lopez, Greg Maddox and Gary Sheffield are history. Call me a bitter Phillie fan but nothing makes me happier than seeing JD Drew go on the DL on a regular basis. As for the pitching staff I loved Russ Ortiz but I am scared that he was mearly riding a boat load of run support. That and can he be the staff ace he is counted on to be. Mike Hampton? I am still wonderring. NY Mets. Oh how I hate the Mets and love to see their continual floundering. Another basement finish is in order. Florida Marlins. How they win is beyond me but you have to tip your hats to them. Finally my beloved Phillies. Outside the Cubs, A's, Astros and BoSox is there any pitching staff from starter to closer you wouldn't want to have? Millwood (no hitter), Wolf (All Star), twinn fire ballers Myers, and Padilla only need to go 6-7 and then hand it to Rheal Cormeier or Tim Worrell who set up Billy Wagner and his 99+ fastball. Seeing him sit down Bonds last year was a thing of beauty. Going to be a fun summer. My projected order of finish

I'd rather have the Marlins staff. I think they could dominate like the Braves did just with pitching for several years to come. Beckett is 23, Penny is 25, Willis is 22. That's a rotation that's going to be around for a while. Then you have Burnett coming back, and then Pavano as a fifth?

That's a lot of hard throwing arms. All they lack is a consistent closer.

I like the Marlins staff as well but Benitez as a closer scares me

Braves... this is that Braves team that everyone says "they're vunerable" yet somehow they will continue to win just to piss other people off

That new catcher is supposed to be pretty good.

But its the guys he is catching. That's one ugly looking pitching staff. And a lot of rookies will be playing.
