new nin out, 36 instrumental tracks...available several different ways. Download the first 9 tracks for free, download the whole thing for $5, preorder 2 CDs/download files immediately $10, then there are some upper scale packages beyond that. All with no label support. Trent Reznor and Radiohead are turning the music industry upside down. Everything is licensed under the Creative Commons Share Alike License, so it's pretty much shareable as long as nobody's making any money. Pretty big step for a major artist to take, curious to see how many people actually pay for it or buy physical media.

haven't had a chance to absorb it all yet, but what I've listened to has been very good, almost a mixture of the instrumentals from The Fragile with the subdued sound of Still. Adrian Belew is all over the place on this, some amazingly textured guitar work. Anyone who likes this sort of thing should at least check out the 9 free songs.

Almost have to think it's fleshed out ideas that didn't make it onto the last 2 CDs, and it was quick and painless to put something together with it. Not a huge risk to try something new as far as distribution goes if there's not a lot of time and money tied up in making it.
