Nice Article On Fasani - blurb on Watkins

I noticed someone may have questioned if Fasani moved out of the pocked to soon. Todays article (not posted yet) quotes the expert - John Fox "He made good decisions in his pocket awareness"

The article went on to remind some of us guys excited for Randy that he is still #3 on the depth chart. Randy seems very humble, which is a good thing... could be that baby he and his wife are expecting...

As long as he keeps this up, "He got fired up, he got excited", I think we will see him in due time... of course baring any pre season flop... ;)

Now the headline on Watkins may have been too kind.
"Watkins' debut not what quarterback had in mind" - I'll say

Fasani played extremely well and should continue to get a very long look in this preseason. There might be a big decision to make in the draft next year in terms of QB. Will we draft a top QB or go with WR/DT/CB/other? Knowing what we have in Fasani would make that decision much easier.
I wouldn't mind seeing Watkins cut now - giving Fasani and Peete more reps in preseason games and practice.

Fasani has a nice array of skills, but we need to see if he can hit the WRs consistently. He was very efficent and showed tremedous athletic ability in his first action. I am seriously stoked about this guy's potential.

What a guy... he even played ping pong with Watkins... I bet Watkins does not have too many guys getting to close to him... :D

My guess is Fasani will be the 3rd String QB... I HONESTLY believe after his debut that he IS good enough to be 2nd string, but in a safe movee Peete will remain the number 2 this year to train Weinke and Fasani both... and next year he'll be gone I see us drafting another QB late next year or picking up another guy to be our 3rd for less money.

    From the Rock Hill Herald:

Prior to the draft this spring, the Panthers rated Fasani the third quarterback on their draft board, behind only No. 1 overall pick David Carr and No. 3 Joey Harrington. They felt fortunate to land a player with such a high rating in the fifth round, and said from the start he was a player they could groom. Henning in particular seemed sold on him, pointing to Fasani's mobility and work ethic.

    That's pretty nutty.

I'll tell you what I really perked up in my Lazy Boy when I saw we had a QB who could scramble and still make the throw. I'll bet we lose some games this year because our #1 and #2 can't scramble worth a shit. I'd like to see him start against a 1st team D.

Can Weinki throw to his left yet.

I have no idea why the staff feels the need to say things like this.

True, there weren't any top notch QBs behnd those two, but there were other guys that were more talented. Unless they had him rated in a position around the fourth round and he came up versus Wesley - and they had to take Wesley because of CB depth problems - then I really have to wonder what this staff does with its ratings.

Mostly because that thing that came out last year about Goings being rated just as high as eventual 3rd rounder Barlow at RB is just as bizarre.

He completed what, 2 passes on the run? I was as pleased as any of you guys to see him do well, but he owes a lot of that success to Bright for repeatedly punking those D backs.

To call him accurate on the run is premature. To call him good is premature. To make any assumption is premature. He looked damn good out there playing but I didn't think Weinke looked bad either.

I'm anxiously awaiting his second outing, but I'm going to wait a little longer before I start creaming in my pants over the guy.

Please don't turn this into Lewis v Craig round 2.
