While I have no problem with Andy Reid getting the win, I think it's bullshit Coach Fox didn't get 1 vote. I guess they only include coaches of teams that make playoffs by the voting:
    Andy Reid Phi. 35
    Jeff Fisher Ten. 6
    Herman Edwards NYJ 3
    Brian Billick Bal. 2
    Bill Callahan Oak. 1
    Jim Fassel NYG 1

From 1-15 to 7-9 in arguably one of the toughest divisions in football all I have to say to voters is

Me too, in a way. Billick? Fassel? Fox may need to get some seasons under his belt to get some respect. He did one fine job for Carolina this season. What did Billick or Fassel do to even be considered?

Yet Billick gets 2 votes and didn't make the playoffs as you stated?? My point was the lack of recognition Fox received

I can understand Billick getting a few votes. The Ravens turned out to be MUCH better than I expected this year.

and going 7-9 after a 1-15 season in argueably the leagues toughest division. (OK so we went 1-5 in division) Doesn't mean at least one vote?

Fassel deserves no mention. He waited until midseason to make a broad and open declaration of regrouping when he should be making adjustments throughout the season. He made a political move to keep himself from being fired, and nothing more. I don't feel he's got a good handle on his team's attitude, either - it can go downhill fast and a more flamboyant player like Shockey tends to get away with too much.

Callahan deserves credit. He didn't build this team by any means. I can't think of a draft pick that's doing much good. I can't think of many free agent acquisitions that have been great from this year. But this isn't a GM award. He took a talented team, and won with it. He's not supposed to be the top of the heap, but he's been commendable by all means and should get better mention.

The Ravens were well coached throughout the year. Untalented team whose stars disappeared but they kept composure, and did well with young guys. Doing it with youngsters is important lately.

My vote would probably go to Edwards, though. Even though a lot of his spark was Pennington, he took a team from behind and made them into a machine. They think they can win when they shouldn't think that. He straightened out Paul Hackett without publicly humiliating him, he made the right changes to Cottrell's system that he didn't like, he did it with two new corners, a new QB, and basically a new OL.

Raiders had a decent draft, actually. Harris was all-rookie, I beleive. In the times I seen them, Jolley looks like the real deal at Tight End. Walker played well when their tackles went down. And Buchanon looked good before he got hurt. They really got the most out of those 4 picks.

My vote would have been Edwards, but Ried is deserving.

fotgot about Jolley, and was discounting Buchanon because he hasn't played more of the season. But certainly, that helps make my case better, and I think that while I was surprised at the hiring, it was a good one and deserves an amount of acclaim. This isn't just "not messing up" something Gruden did.
