How much recording time do those cards allow? I know it depends on the card, but what's the most time one could get?

8GB card will hold about 3 hours at HD. With the type of shooting we do, that'll be more than enough. The most intensive stuff we do (recording services) is typically being recorded directly into a laptop anyway.

Larry, I was looking at a SLR with video capability, but the Canon rep I talked to at a trade show told me they couldnt record clips longer than 15 minutes, so they wouldnt work for our services :-( .

Thanks for the info. I have a Mini DV camcorder that takes great video but is a pain to download to the computer. I'm thinking of getting a new camcorder soon.

    Mark,

Where did you see that 8GB will record 3hrs? I just got a Canon HF20 w/ an 8GB card and it only records about 50 minutes.

I think the HF100 has 32 GB of internal memory.

PS- what type of computer are you going to use for editing AVCHD? I had to fork out another $1000 on top of the camera just to get a computer that can edit HD video.

    Good luck!

Sorry, looks like I misread.... 3hrs in LP mode: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/c...lFeaturesTabAct&fcategoryid=177&modelid=17993

We do our editing on either a Macbook Pro or iMac.
