OK, so I've been a bad boy and have left my Sony VAIO laptop running when I'm not home. And I'll leave it on for long periods of time. Yea yea yea, stupid stupid stupid.

So I think now I'm paying the consequences.

At first, I would come home and see my screen go blank with the words 'Operating System Not Found.' Well, that scared the shit out of me.

This week, the whole damn thing -including the INternet - has been slow. The computer's rebooting itself and running disk checks. Now, everytime I reboot, I get greeted by a "IOCTRL_multiuser_not load" error message. Beats me!

I guess I need a new hard drive. I have a 20Gb drive that's just over half full. I'll drop the cash, but I want to know I'm getting my money's worth.

Suggestions on brands to consider? I'm definitely getting a 40Gb drive.

I normally only use 30-40 gigs on any worstations/laptops I own. Then again i can back up most stuff to my server which has a 200 backup drive, but the point is really anything over 40 is over kill. If you have more than that you're just storing too damn much stuff.

I've got a 40 gig on my laptop, and I thought it'd be fine. I've got 10 gigs left. Now I want to put my CD collection on it and with a simple FM Transmitter, I'll have an awesome wireless jukebox that plays though my home stereo.

Not only that, but my whole digital picture collection and I have a lot of software, basically a full graphic work station.

Maybe it's just me, but I wish I had at least an 80gig now, a 120 would be ideal

I'm going to eventually have to get an external drive to do any video.

i've thought about the external if only to just store stuff i don't need when i'm on the road. that way if my laptop gets stolen or breaks down, i won't fret too much about files.
